How can Charlie Strong survive ... - quo vadis - 10-03-2015 11:57 AM

Being down 30-0.

In the *first* quarter?

He's only in his 2nd year. That's how.

I don't know Bit. If they don't improve much this year and finish 3-9, he may be gone.

If Texas does bail on him, they deserve the extended period of futility, and the reversal to an entitled culture that put Texas in this situation to start with.

If TCU winds up making this a 60 to 7 kind of game I think he's toast. You can't lose to your smaller privates (TCU and Baylor) in your home state in embarrassing fashion when you claim to be "The" flagship. It kills recruiting! It destroys Texas's big money donors' boasts, and it humiliates the fan base. Heads will roll second year or not.

I hope his house does not egged tonight. LOL

If this game gets that sideways JR, Strong just might get Kiffen'd.

not this week. I think if they got beat 60-7, and then next week vs Oklahoma 60-7- may see something. Texas has a bye the following week.

He won't survive -- in fact, I'll be stunned if he's coaching vs Oklahoma.

Somebody better start a GoFundCharlieStrongBuyout page...

Mack Brown suffered multiple whippings against Oklahoma — 63-14 in 2000, 65-13 in 2003, 55-17 in 2011 and 63-21 in 2012. Texas was ranked 11th in the first three games, 15th in the last.

Strong may not last long, but getting shelled in one game isn't going to be what does him in. Not with this team.

It's the way they're losing. They're losing due to unforced errors, not because the other teams are so much better than them, except Notre Dame. They look unprepared and not cohesive.

Houston had the same issues with Tony Levine the past few years. It wasn't that the losses piled up (including embarrassing ones) it was that the team often looked utterly unprepared and lost.

It looks like special teams is Texas' biggest problem at the moment. They look terrible, and Charlie better make a change there before it kills any chance he has.

It's not just the 1 game. That would be 3 ugly blowouts in 5 games this year- and 4 out of 6. I could see Texas thinking- this season would totally fall apart if he sticks around, and try to salvage what they could.

Yep, I started a thread over it.

Unless Texas drastically improves in the next few weeks, they will have big losses against Oklahoma, Baylor, Texas Tech, Kansas State and West Virginia. They will beat Kansas, but Iowa State could be a toss up.

Regardless of whether you feel that Charlie Strong is a good coach (I think he is), that will simply not be tolerated at a place like Texas. You don't rebuild there - the expectation is to come in and win immediately. Rich Rodriguez came in to Michigan almost 10 years ago, and he was shown the door because of the way they were losing. This is a similar situation, not counting off the field incidents, in my opinion.

You simply can't get humiliated like this at Texas and last long.

That's my feeling. Second year or not, some things just cannot be tolerated.

wow. had a player from Texas tweeting at halftime.

RE: How can Charlie Strong survive ... - 10thMountain - 10-03-2015 04:34 PM

On the one hand I'd like to say my prediction came true and TCU beat them so badly they can't possibly blame it on conspiracies, racism and the trilateral commission like they did last weekend...but then I remember which entitled fan base I'm talking about....

He'll be gone before the seasons over
