No longer signing with Alabama. I like our roster but I'm sure we'd take him.

RE: FWIW: Dazon Ingram Decommits - the_blazerman - 03-16-2015 12:04 PM

If he is still interested, yes we would.

Can't recall the specifics, but I would guess he was kind of close to our assistant coaches and/or some of the players on the team.

RE: FWIW: Dazon Ingram Decommits - UABslant - 03-16-2015 12:41 PM

It was between us and Bama. The staff that recruited him to Bama won't be there next year, so he's gone. We'll see where he lands...

I would think our chances are good if we still wanted him. Not clear what Haase's priorities are right now but he would be tough to turn down being instate and a big talent.

RE: FWIW: Dazon Ingram Decommits - hooverblazer - 03-16-2015 01:04 PM

I think Haase should be all in on Dazon.

RE: FWIW: Dazon Ingram Decommits - blazers9911 - 03-16-2015 01:08 PM

He should be. I'm sure the call has already been made. Ingram may really want to play for this team now too. We are definitely trending up.

RE: FWIW: Dazon Ingram Decommits - hooverblazer - 03-16-2015 01:15 PM

He's good friends with Lee.

RE: FWIW: Dazon Ingram Decommits - BlazintheATL - 03-16-2015 01:20 PM

That'd be a big addition. I'm sure the call has been made.

RE: FWIW: Dazon Ingram Decommits - BlazerGold09 - 03-16-2015 01:22 PM

I love our team, don't get me wrong....

Baxter is replaceable. He's a good CUSA talent but not what we need to be a nationally competitive team. I can't imagine Haase would turn down any 2 guards at this point.

Baxter does a lot for us whether you realize it or not, he is a great perimeter defender. I wish he would take it to the hole more often and either finish/draw a foul, or dish it off to a big man, or kick it back out to brown or norton for an open look.

I agree with all of that. He's not a consistent jump shooter though. Our starting 5 needs to be at least good at most of the areas that make their position valuable. I'm not talking about CUSA level talent. I'm talking about NCCA tourney type players. The most consistent teams in college basketball are the ones who have players who can play offensively and defensively from the paint to the perimeter.

RE: FWIW: Dazon Ingram Decommits - the_blazerman - 03-16-2015 01:36 PM

Baxter is pretty darn good to only be a sophomore.

RE: FWIW: Dazon Ingram Decommits - UABslant - 03-16-2015 01:37 PM

We need a big forward to help off the bench to replace CJ. But you also don't turn down talent, regardless of position. We could be the Kentucky of the G5... run a green unit & and gold unit. 03-wink

RE: FWIW: Dazon Ingram Decommits - the_blazerman - 03-16-2015 01:39 PM

I think Sullivan will get more time at the #4 next year & Lee may get some time at the 5 whenever Tosin isn't in.

Depends though on if Lee adds some pounds during the off season.

Agree on the forward, but we have two open scholarships. We could take Ingram and and still get a forward (hopefully Tommy Burton).

You can never have too many good guards.

Gene Bartow.

I don't think we'll see Lee at the 5. He'll either be a 4 or a 3.

I like Baxter... he's a mature player for a sophomore & made better decisions with the ball as the season progressed. Ingram will have some growing up to do as a guard to get significant PT his freshman year at UAB.

Competition in practice and pressure for PT are good things as long as the coaching staff keep the players' heads straight. UK is a perfect example as much as I hate to say it.

on verbal commits the only school he's got listed is murray state. I'm not sure how accurate that website is, though. Do we honestly have a good chance of getting him if he's got offers from NC State?

Gene Bartow.

I remember Coach saying something he always wanted to do but never quite had the nerve, was put 5 guards on the floor.
