Louisiana Legislative Audit 2014 - geauxcajuns - 02-12-2015 02:59 PM

The Louisiana Legislative Auditor has concluded their agreed upon procedures for a few of the athletic departments in the state for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2014. I'll leave out LSU and the FCS schools as they just are not good to compare to.

UL
Revenue: $21,297,114
Expenditures: $21,542,643

LA Tech
Revenue: $19,277,701
Expenditures: $19,239,017

ULM- not posted yet. I will update when it is (hopefully within the next week or two)

For comparison purposes, these numbers are from fiscal year ending June 30, 2010 (4 years ago), which was the last year before our run of bowl victories.

UL
Revenue: $12,280,070
Expenditures: $12,357,621

LA Tech
Revenue: $16,587,540
Expenditures: $16,481,887

ULM
Revenue: $10,752,992
Expenditures: $10,700,417

In nearly 4 years, we have doubled our revenues and expenditures. Our combined ticket and contribution revenue has jumped from $2.55M to $12.72M! Keep purchasing your season tickets...keep donating to the RCAF. Let's jump another $10M in 4 years! If we do that, our $30M budget falls in line with other CUSA schools...and we did it without a student fee!

I take no credit for this post it was copied from a raginpagin poster. But sure wanted to 05-stirthepot

If not I need to step my game up. But the numbers are accurate and do indicate a trend.

Not enough to offset our dismal basketball attendance, Marlin has lost the support of Lafayette.

The reports do show that UL Lafayette has surpassed La Tech now in the amount of income and expenditures in their athletic dept. One notable fact is that Tech transferred $9,804,000 from their school funds into the athletic department that is included in their $19,277,701 reported income whereas UL Lafayette transferred only $5,649,393 for a difference of about $4,000,000. Had UL Lafayette transferred as much school funds as Tech then their Income would have been around $25,451,000 or about $6 million more than the dogs.

50.9% of Techs total income was school fund transfers. 26.5% of ULL total income was school transfers.

Thanks for the information, EE! That is pretty awesome how little money Tech has for sports and how good our sport teams are. Tech FTW COGS

RE: Louisiana Legislative Audit 2014 - NanoDawg - 02-13-2015 10:11 AM

and at this growing rate, ULL will be a great addition to any of the P5 expansions. We wish you the best of luck, cajun fans!

RE: Louisiana Legislative Audit 2014 - pilot172000 - 02-13-2015 10:44 AM

I think its fair to say that if ULL can't beat us on the field they will try their best to beat us on paper. This is from a year ago. I am perfectly ok with what we are doing and how we are doing it. ULL isn't even in our conference and I don't particulary care to compare US to them. If it makes them feel better that their budget is 2 million more than our, great!! Now can we move onto something important like basketball or baseball?
