What was the 1 percent? - Agent Orange Sauce - 02-10-2015 12:07 AM

At the BOT meeting at UAB, one of the BOTs said they were happy with 99 percent of the job that Watts has done. What is the one percent? I suspect it's cave to the interests of UAB and allow the Task Force...So, let's fast forward. The Task Force gets it right and puts forward a report that football should not have been killed and, not only that, how to bring it back better than before. Does anyone see Watts saying no to this? Understand, the BOT has backed itself into a corner here. In their own words, they can't interfere. And if they do and Watts says no to football. HA, you think people are pissed now...There would be OPEN REBELLION if Watts doubles down and kills football again. So, that one percent...I see that as a huge admission by the BOT that Watts effed this all up and the BOT might be powerless to stop football from coming back.

Figure of speech. Even if they did the calculations to come up with 99% vs 1%, no one would believe the math.

More to it, I think.

I think we come back with a viable report. Once the assumptions are corrected and we use last season's numbers we'll be ok. The report then goes to Watts.

Will he approve it? Who knows? He has to know he'd face open rebellion if he does not, but he figures he has that now. I doubt he understands even yet how angry we are. More foot dragging is entirely possible.

But yes, if he kills a viable report it's pitchfork and torch time.

They are in stall mode now. Get the legislature to delay doing anything until report comes back. Once the report comes back, if bad for Watts, he'll stall until the new AD is in place since we won't be playing in 2015 anyway. If SACS is unhappy with our situation, and Watts is forced out, the BOT will stall and do a "nationwide" search for a new president and will try to ensure that the interim president delays making any decision on football until the new president takes office. If they can stall through the 2016 season, it is less likely that Coach Clark will wait another year.

I know that's negative, but the longer they can drag this out, the more the indignation and outrage (and interest) around the state and nation dies down.

That's what I figure. I hope that instead a of a whippin' stick SACS breaks out a 10 pound sledgehammer.

Watts is only concerned about his paycheck.
