The fiddling with temperature data is the biggest science scandal ever - EagleRockCafe - 02-08-2015 05:37 PM

Remember, according to Obama, climate change is a bigger threat to the world than Islamic Terrorism....

Quote: When future generations look back on the global-warming scare of the past 30 years, nothing will shock them more than the extent to which the official temperature records – on which the entire panic ultimately rested – were systematically “adjusted” to show the Earth as having warmed much more than the actual data justified.

Two weeks ago, under the headline “How we are being tricked by flawed data on global warming”, I wrote about Paul Homewood, who, on his Notalotofpeopleknowthat blog, had checked the published temperature graphs for three weather stations in Paraguay against the temperatures that had originally been recorded. In each instance, the actual trend of 60 years of data had been dramatically reversed, so that a cooling trend was changed to one that showed a marked warming.

This was only the latest of many examples of a practice long recognised by expert observers around the world – one that raises an ever larger question mark over the entire official surface-temperature record.

Following my last article, Homewood checked a swathe of other South American weather stations around the original three. In each case he found the same suspicious one-way “adjustments”. First these were made by the US government’s Global Historical Climate Network (GHCN). They were then amplified by two of the main official surface records, the Goddard Institute for Space Studies (Giss) and the National Climate Data Center (NCDC), which use the warming trends to estimate temperatures across the vast regions of the Earth where no measurements are taken. Yet these are the very records on which scientists and politicians rely for their belief in “global warming”.

I'll believe this when Brian Williams reports it on NBC Slightly News.

See. Obama and the progressives don't believe in Jesus and Christianity... they are happy to talk about it and lecture Christians...

What will they do about the death of their religion? The cult of global warming is about to time out.

And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

Jesus is Lord and always will be.

All the dictators, communists, progressives, scientists and their theories are written in the sand.

even bigger than the world is flat scandal?

I've never seen a place with people who are so proud of their ignorance.

It always amuses me when an ignoramus believes that anyone who disagrees with them, are themselves ignorant.

It's not that you're disagreeing with me, you're disagreeing from literally every respected scientific institution.

Not everybody is gullible and close minded enough to believe everything that is professed as "proven science" when it is constantly proven to be anything but "proven". But go ahead and be a blind liberal who questions nothing about the "proven" science of supposed climate change because it fits your political agenda. As for calling people names, you libs are excellent at that. Good job.

How many of those know the data is cooked?

"proven" science is as political as other endeavors, and the fact that we do not live in a society that relies solely on the opinion of proclaimed experts is a good thing.

I personally trust not the procliamed "consensus" of the scientific community on this issue, and my career is based in science and touches on this issue. I may be proven completely late to the party, but I reserve the right to be skeptical until I see better long-term information that both the climate is significantly warming, and that mankind product emissions have a factor in driving it. Until then, it appears to be a well-constructed political ploy to consolidate world power and redistribute wealth without appropriate due diligence.

Listen, I get it. You likely don't read very much scientific research, so when you see an article from a news site you trust saying that a researcher found problems with a specific global warming model or minute detail of research, you take that to mean that the issue is bunk. But that's not how science actually works, finding one brick out of place does not cause the mountain of data and evidence to immediately become null and void. For instance, if we didn't find the Higgs-Boson like our theories predicted, it's not as if we'd throw the entirety of Gravitational Theory out as useless. And that's despite the fact without the Higgs-Boson, we have no real idea where mass, therefore gravity, even comes from. This is similar. The models might be wonky, they might not predict to the level you want, but that doesn't negate all the other overwhelming evidence which shows that yes, greenhouse gas emissions are by far the most likely cause of our indisputable global heating.

Climate science is a rapidly changing and evolving science, and within that, you can of course find faults. But it's the same sort of faults and obscure findings that Phillip Morris touted for decades longer than they should, or the NFL did for that matter. It's not a conspiracy of scientists, it's a conspiracy of actual data.

RE: The fiddling with temperature data is the biggest science scandal ever - ODUsmitty - 02-08-2015 10:57 PM

Falsifying data is not "obscure".

Ignoring those things you find "inconvenient" is also not equated to "obscurity".

Again, I fully admit that my cognitive objection to this reasoning may or may not be validated. However, I reserve the right to wait for further due diligence prior to willingly throwing billions of dollars, American economic progress, and hard-earned American liberty away because the "herd" thinks it is the proper course of action.

So are these climate change alarmists...I mean scientists more accurate than the ones who claimed we were facing an imminent ice age?

So in other words, you agree that it is not settled science. And those "97% of all scientists" are wrong.

That's all we've been saying.
