Quotes from Skerry after the game

Opening statement
Big win for us. A little bit hairy for us at the end. We're learning. I though (Morsell) was exceptional. We're getting there on offense. We played faster. Someone is going to win this league that you don't know. We needed it. Quick turnaround. I locked in to recruit him (Morsell) pretty hard. His ceiling is pretty high.

On defense in 2nd half
We didn't do a good job on post defense and we fouled too much. We took away the 3 most of the night. I thought our post defense was lacking. They shot 37%, we'll take that and +16 on the glass.

On first half
We didn't help off shooters. Mike did a really good job on Barry, who is a terrific player. We have to get a 4-5 minute stretch where we don't melt down. I feel like I'm an aging. We're close.

We got out in transition. We want to play as fast as possible. They don't play a lot of guys. We have guys that can make plays in the open floor.

On Alex
He struggled against UNCW. He sat out nine days and missed two games. We threw him in against UNCW. He had three really good days of practice this week. We can really use him going forward.

On foul shooting
We were 300th in the country in free throw percentage but first in the country in percentage of points scored at the foul line. We get there. We'll make them.

Morsell
Coach Skerry tells me to do what I do. That (game winner) elevated my confidence a lot. In the beginning of the season, I wasn't that confident. I'm getting bigger and stronger. I'm able to get to the basket easier.

Skerry
I don't know if I've seen a guy get as strong as Mike in the middle of the season. He's the youngest guy in our program. He can be a special player here.

On road trip
I felt like, even though we didn't get it done against UNCW, I felt a change in the personnel. They're starting to understand it defensively. Practice habits have gotten better. They need to be good every day for us to go on a run.

We have good depth. Walter has been playing well. He's scoring the ball. Eddie got sick for a couple of games. That happens to everybody. The cohesiveness takes time with so many new players. Our defensive rebounding has gotten back to Towson standards.

I thought John missed some easy ones around the rim. He got in foul trouble. You hope the officials will let it be a melee out there.

On students
I thought they brought a real good injury. Despite the snow, it makes a big difference. I'm excited about the group. We're now the 312th team in the country in experience. That's a good thing.
