Hell of a first drive. Opened strong but couldn't finish. Victor had a great game and the front four on defense was stellar as usual. Unfortunately this team lives and dies by the QB play.

No offense, TUTigers, but you should trying playing QB behind an offensive line that moves backwards and cannot protect you. This is a major issue for the program, as it's not just due to injury, it's bad recruiting and bad player development to not have representative talent ready to go after graduation of last year's line. If you think it's all the QB then you could also argue that not having a QB on the roster that has been developed since Enders came in 2011 is also a major problem. You can take that further and say that since 2009 we have not had a single HS recruit at the position of QB that has been developed into a consistent contributor.
Sure, we will hear the old standard line that winning at the FCS level is dependent on bringing in transfers, so where have these been? People on this and other boards will say that you cannot build a consistent winner at the FCS level without a lot of transfers and even then, it's not possible. Not so. Look north to the example of excellence in the CAA, it's not JMU, Delaware, ODU, William & Mary, it's New Hampshire.

They just keep winning - 10 straight playoff years - and they do not build their rosters based on transfers, they develop talent. That's how a real program is built. It's not like New Hampshire is a gold mine for recruiting talent... their staff bust their tail to bring in the kind of kid that they can coach, develop, mentor and mold into a winning formula.
That's not happening at Towson. It's mainly based on hired gun transfers, lucky breaks, and excuses.
I can give credit for the 2013 offensive line being a unit that was put together and groomed, but it now seems that our coaches could not build around those guys, recruit around the roster, and keep developing talent in the pipeline.
Perhaps we should all be pleased with a playoff team every other year. A championship season every decade or so?

Transfers should supplement the recruiting/development process. It sure shouldn't be the lifeblood.
It appears as though we have done a pretty crappy job of building on the success of the 3 prior years.

The coaching staff needed to have changes made after the 2011 season to keep moving forward. Ambrose chose to go with status quo. Stability is one thing, but it's apparent to 99% of the world that cares that the defensive staff and special teams are stagnant, if not altogether ill equipped to move to program forward. The offense was also better when Rob was calling the offense instead of his brother. The last time the coaching staff had a shake up was after the 1-10 season in 2010, and the result the following year was a championship. Since then only Brian Fleury has left this coaching staff. Hard to imagine that special teams actually got worse that they were in 2011 but they have.

QB will arrive. Oline just needs to get healthy. LT/LG Antonio Harris is legit. They love C Flaherty, who was out all year. RG Schunke is solid. RT/LT Barrio will be legit with 20 pounds. Evans or Campbell at left guard. They need a QB. Knudson might be a year or two away but he's got a great upside. As for defense, I'm more concerned about cornerback situation and that they add another LB to play with Barr and Simms.

Barr has not played a down in 2 years. If he comes back at all he's a proven injury risk and will be super rusty.
QB will arrive... why so confident? One did arrive, Brennan, which was a massive WHIFF in terms of talent evaluation. I'm sure you were skeptical about 2011 and 2013 as well. You wanted him out after 2010 so I expect nothing else.
Why so confident? I just have a feeling (ok, something more than that). And Knudson has more talent than any transfer we've brought including Enders. But if we move Frazier back to WR, we need to bring in somebody. I'm thinking it will be somebody a lot more mobile and highly-regarded than Brennan. They whiffed on him, we all know that.
As for the defense, as I wrote in my other post, it does concern me even more than the offense. Linebacker, cornerback and defensive end. I love the Cook kid they brought in at DE but he's not going to replace Ryan Delaire right away. I'd go transfer CB, transfer DE and at least one transfer LB because Barr is an injury-risk.
