What is your NFL team? - UConn-SMU - 10-26-2014 09:12 AM

I've been a Patriot fan since the 1970's.

My brother has been a season ticket holder since 1993.

Packers - since '59

Redskins...although if the name gets changed and the team can't have a winning season in the next two seasons (not counting this one b/c we're done already), I might be done with the team and league in general. Truth be told, I kind of hate the NFL. The only reason i follow is becuase of my various fantasy leagues and my social circle of Skins fans. At this point though, they're as jaded with the team and league as I am, and I just can't bring myself to root for the Washington Bravehearts....ugh.

The Redskins won't be changing their name anytime soon, and they shouldn't.

I've grown up a Chiefs fan even though I don't pay a whole lot of attention to the NFL anymore.

Haven't been in an NFL fantasy league in at least 6 years and have no desire to get back in. I do one baseball keepers league and that's it anymore. Back in the day I'd be involved in multiple NFL and MLB leagues along with an NBA and NHL.

They will eventually. They've already lost the battle of public opinion and it's only a matter of time until they lose sponsors. Also, the brand name was recently deemed derogatory, so if they lose the appeal, there won't be anyway they can make money off of the name or jersey sales. Dan Snyder won't sit by and lose millions just out of sheer pride.

Panthers as they are my local team. Still got my sweatshirt that I got fresh out of the first box load the local Foot Locker got in when the team got announced.

I liked the Bears because they won the Super Bowl the first year I actually paid attention to the game.

Was a fan of the Warren Moon Oilers.

I've had fleeting fandom for any NFL team that had a ECU Pirate on the team.

I've never been able to pull for the Raiders, Cowboys, or Redskins.

It still cracks me up that it's considered derogatory when it was the NATIVE AMERICANS that described themselves as Redskins to differentiate them from whites or blacks.

I believe it will all work itself out in the end and the will be the Redskins for a very long time.

There are 17 (I believe) high schools on Native American reservations that use the term as a school nickname and mascot. It also didn't become an "issue" until the mid 90s when political correctness began running amock and a Washington Post author took it upon himself to be a social crusader...how brave of him 03-banghead.

What I find most interesting is that these nicknames are some of the last remaining cultural images the majority of the country has of Native Americans and their tribes. I live on the east coast and I have never once met a pure blooded member of any tribe (although plenty of people claim to be part Cherokee or what not). If it wasn't for Redskins, Seminoles, Indians, Sioux, Aztecs etc. etc. celebrated as mascots, I think many people would have little to no knowledge of the American Indian nor how fierce and great their warriors were.

Panthers and before that Redskins. Before the Panthers came along (and Cable) your 1pm TV choices in North Carolina were Redskins or Dallas.

Before expansion and franchise moves, I've heard the Cowboys were the "local" NFL broadcast from Virginia to Arizona.

Wow.

Hmmm Redskins were more on that Falcons games in the area .... I wonder if they operated at different time windows. I do recall the Cowboys got their fare share of tv time though.

Earliest memory is watching Saints. So I've been a Saints fan since I could remember.. During the Favre era I pulled for Green Bay and still do when they're not playing the Saints.. The wife is a life long Steelers fan. She was born in Steelers country.. So I pull for them.. Out of the 3 teams you'll only find Saints gear in my closet and maybe one Steelers shirt.
