2016 Old Dominion Football Recruiting Den - paintedblue - 10-14-2014 03:18 PM

The Monarchs just offered 2016 ATH/DB Patrick Johnson II, 5'11", 182, Bullis School, Potomc MD. ESPN 3 star. Currently holds offers from BC, Illinois, Rutgers, and UD as well.

Note: I couldn't post this under the "Important Threads" header, so if someone will move it there I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Per Matthew Hatfield, ODU has offered two local stud RB's in King's Fork Sr. Deshaun Wethington, and Salem's Malik Butts.

Very impressive HUDL Highlights for Deshaun, I say we go hard on recruiting him!

Malik shows excellent catching abilities, may perhaps add to our repertoire of offensive plays.

RE: 2016 Old Dominion Football Recruiting Den - ODU AGGIE - 10-18-2014 09:10 AM

Butts looked like a good running back, but Wethington looked like one of those guys that comes by only once every ten years or so. I have no doubt we will have our hands full recruiting him as I susopect he will have multiple offers from some very good P5 schools. He only has to see a small crease and then hits it. He has excellent vision, excellent broken field running ability, very good speed, and the strength to break tackles. Very impressive!

Yep. I have a family member who works at King's Fork. I saw Wethington in a playoff game last season, I think against Heritage. He was injured but he was still such a beast. He is a hard runner, but shiftier than Lawry. As a sophomore, he was still their work horse. I was very impressed that game with both him and Miskel. They were actually two the players who stood out to me. There were a few others too.

I said that day both Miskel and Wethington would be offered by ODU.

How about a 2017 kid? Eric Crosby, for Ocean Lakes. No offer from ODU yet, but he's listed ODU under interests:
http://247sports.com/Player/Eric-Crosby-35324

He's listed as LB, but he played a little FB, and this last Friday, against Oscar Smith, he got his first carries as a RB. He had 6 carries for 120 yards.
Also, watch this video:

RE: 2016 Old Dominion Football Recruiting Den - ODU AGGIE - 12-09-2014 09:25 AM

With that video and 120 yards in six carries, he kind of reminds me of that running back for Marshall. If he can't outrun you, he will just run over you.

RE: 2016 Old Dominion Football Recruiting Den - djnva - 12-09-2014 09:29 AM

Apparently that video went somewhat viral and former NFL RB Brandon Jacobs saw it and contacted the school and will be working out with the kid in the offseason.

ODU offered Kevin Staton from Great Bridge, he is a OG 6'6 320

RE: 2016 Old Dominion Football Recruiting Den - SCole025 - 01-28-2015 08:49 AM

ODU offered Tyler Fleagle, a DT from Frederick, MD last week. 6'3", 263 lbs. He has not received any other offers so far.

According to 247, we currently have 76 offers out for the 2016 class.

Monarchs have offered 4* CB Dontye Carriere-Williams out of Booker T Washington HS in Miami, FL

http://www.hudl.com/athlete/3857509/dontye-carriere-williams

We have quite a few offers out for some highly rated guys. I wonder what our chances really are at some of them? I guess we'd have a higher chance at landing one of the VA kids.

Here are some of the higher rated Va kids we have offered...

Levonta Taylor - CB - Ocean Lakes - Va Beach, Va 5*
Jaquan Yulee - ILB - Indian River - Chesapeake, Va 4*
Landon Word - ILB - Bishop O'Connell - Arlington, Va 3*
Traveon Redd - S - Magna Vista - Ridgeway, Va 3*
Keyvone Bruton - S - Lake Taylor - Norfolk, Va 3*
Anthony Womack - S - Ocean Lakes - Va Beach, Va 3*
Robbie Robinson - ATH - Phoebus - Hampton, Va 3*
Reggie Floyd - ATH - Stonewall Jackson - Manassas, Va 3*
Jermaine Trotman - ATH - Landstown - Va Beach, Va 3*

I'm hoping we can re-secure a commitment from Trevion Armstrong. I was pretty happy we got him last year before he transferred and reclassified.

RE: 2016 Old Dominion Football Recruiting Den - ODU90 - 02-04-2015 01:18 PM

I know 2015 signing day is just wrapping up, but I have to admit to being a little nervous about the prospects for 2016. It seems like Burden's strength was building relationships with his recruits over an extended period of time. We are only 5-6 months from summer camps when the first wave of commits begin to roll in and we will be starting from scratch with many recruits. Bobby is going to have his work cut out for him.

We have offered a safety who looks like a real keeper -- Gregory Ross, Jr. He is a ball hawk who has good football instincts, gets to the ball, and catches it when he gets there. He hits hard and wraps up. I saw a lot to like.

I agree. He looks good. Unfortunately, he also currently holds an offer from VT. That seems to be the kiss of death when it comes to recruits. We've beaten UVA multiple times for recruits, but we haven't gotten one yet that also had an offer from Tech on the table.

The first kid that turns them down to sign with ODU though will instantly become my favorite player.
