Greatest inventor? - DragonLair - 06-09-2014 06:41 PM

Who do y'all believe to be the greatest inventor of all time. There are certainly a ton of people to choose from.

Edison
Tesla
Franklin
Colt
Browning
Davinci
Etc.

I think tesla was hands down the best he had so many brilliant ideas for his time. Some we can't duplicate or even figure out how he did it.

If he hadn't gone bat-**** crazy in the end, no telling what he could have done.

I say you have to go with Da Vinci , considering what we have on paper that came from his mind.

Tesla a distant second.

I'm not ready to hand the crown over to Tesla. I get the elevation of him over Edison due to the AC/DC fight, but I think people are going way overboard in their fandom.

I agree with you in the fact that people are going crazy about him. But you have to admit some of the things that he did was amazing in the fact he didn't have out tools that we have today. Even with all of our tools we still can't duplicate some of his experiments.

How about John Gorrie, a Scottish immigrant doctor in Florida? He quit practicing medicine to invent the process for creating ice, which eventually led to the development of air conditioning. On May 6, 1851, Gorrie was granted Patent No. 8080 for a machine to make ice, which today rests in the Smithsonian.
