Where do you see your conference in 5 years? - GSUCadet - 05-14-2014 02:41 PM

Where do you think your team will be in 5 years? I'm talking about the 2019 season. Will you still be in the sunbelt? If not, what conference? What will your 2018 record be? This is all about speculation/prediction. Have fun :)

I see App coming off of their 5th straight (and 6th overall ) win over Michigan (yeah, they kept on signing us for games since we kept beating them) 04-cheers
We are trying for our 3rd straight SunBelt championship and just finished the 2018 season with a 10-2 record with losses to Alabama and Idaho 04-jawdrop

Humm. That is the 2019-20 season

Not a clue.

AAC contract expires with the 2020-21 season so renegotiation will be going on in 2019 if not 2018.

MWC contract with CBS expires 2015-16 and ESPN in 2019-20

CUSA contract expires 2015-16

MAC contract expires 2016-17 (reportedly being renegotiated early)

Lot of stuff can happen between now and then.

I see Georgia Southern trying to figure out why App State reminds them of
that line from Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
Butch Cassidy saying: "Who are those guys? "
because of our 8 straight wins over Georgia Southern.
Same line JMU's coach Mickey Matthews used to say about App State

I think TxSt will still be in the Sunbelt, unless something cataclysmic happens such as the P5 forming their own division relegating the G5 as the new "FCS" division. If that happens then I could see a lot of changes as schools start forming new regional conferences.

Idaho's AD - Rob Spear, believes that this will happen at some point. There will be 3 tiers of Div. I football. (1) The P5 will separate themselves from everyone else; (2) the remaining G5 + the top teams of the current FCS; and (3) the remaining teams will be FCS.
If that does happen, I agree with you that schools will start to form new regional conferences.

Louisiana will be in the new version of the SWC.

Idaho and Umass in the championship game.
The prior years champ Georgia State slipping after going undefeated. NMSU came the closest in the previous years championship game.

Fourth straight year of bowling for Idaho

I think college football as we now know it will have imploded under the weight of its own hubris. Well, that and the fact only a select few will be able to afford tickets.

Or, Georgia Southern will go 55-0 and be five-time SunBelt (sunbelt, Sun Belt?) champs and fans will be wondering why that hasn't translated into daily 30-minute specials on ESPN about the greatness that is Eaglenation (eagle Nation, Eagle Nation, EagleNation?). I mean, attention is what it's all about, right? Otherwise we'd still be trying to beat North Dakota State like we should.

Correct wording is: Sun Belt since you asked.
