People that use chop sticks at Chinese restaurants? - WPDAWG08 - 11-19-2013 10:41 PM Is it liberals trying too hard to be PC or for practicality? thoughts.. RE: People that use chop sticks at Chinese restaurants? - ODUsmitty - 11-19-2013 10:55 PM I am as Conservative as they come, and choose to "attempt" to respect other cultures by learning a few language phrases or learning to use chopsticks.etc when eating ethnic food. Stupid thread, and have lost valuable time/energy responding to it. RE: People that use chop sticks at Chinese restaurants? - Tom in Lazybrook - 11-20-2013 12:41 AM I actually go 50-50 with the chopsticks. If that's what they bring, that's what I use. I actually prefer chopsticks when eating sushi or a rice based dish. Oddly enough, I was in Japan and China in September. I didn't use chopsticks there because they always brought us western utensils. I don't speak more than 20 words of Japanese and less than 10 words in Mandarin so I just didn't bother. It's a simple matter of using the right utensil for that food. Have you ever tried to eat sushi with a fork? It's beyond awkward. RE: People that use chop sticks at Chinese restaurants? - EverRespect - 11-20-2013 08:51 AM When in Rome, do as the Romans do. When at home, do what you do. An American eating with chopsticks at a Chinese restaurant isn't liberal. What would be liberal is forcing your entire family to eat Thanksgiving dinner with chopsticks because one of your guests is Chinese. RE: People that use chop sticks at Chinese restaurants? - VA49er - 11-20-2013 09:00 AM I try to use chop sticks every time I eat in a Chinese restauarant and fail miserably. Nothing liberal about it, just like to try new things every now and then. Because a plaid skirt would clash with your birkenstocks? RE: People that use chop sticks at Chinese restaurants? - GoApps70 - 11-20-2013 09:13 AM Why do some people think it necessary to utilize chop sticks. Most don't but some do. Personally, if there is a fork on the table, I use it. If I have to ask for a fork, I use the chopsticks. My question is why no knives in Chinese restaurants? Been to two in the last month and neither had knives on the table. I totally agree with you on this one. I remember being in college looking at those d bags eating sushi in the food court. Here we are in the middle of Oklahoma and these wannabes are eating rolled up fish/rice circles with chopsticks, dipping them in soy sauce - as if this is NYC and they are the most cutting edge people within miles. Really stupid. RE: People that use chop sticks at Chinese restaurants? - HeartOfDixie - 11-20-2013 10:01 AM I use chop sticks. As for the liberals in the food court. No, they are clearly eating it for an image. They are trying to be all countercultural -and its pretty obvious. I knew it then, and it holds true today. Pick the damn thing up with your fingers and take a fricken bite. Stop trying to be Yoko Ono with the damn sushi.
