MBB vs. NW Ohio - MidnightBlueGold - 11-09-2013 06:52 PM

No Josh Lemons tonight - he's in street clothes.

RE: MBB vs. NW Ohio - MidnightBlueGold - 11-09-2013 07:11 PM

Also a nice touch on the jerseys - right underneath the chin (don't know how else to explain it) the initials BN for Bob Nichols.

RE: MBB vs. NW Ohio - northcoastRocket - 11-09-2013 07:30 PM

So the men have been practicing free throws with the women, eh?

RE: MBB vs. NW Ohio - MidnightBlueGold - 11-09-2013 07:31 PM

2/9 on FT so far.

MBB vs. NW Ohio - adunifon - 11-09-2013 07:31 PM

Didn't we beat this team by 100 a year or two ago?

No resemblance. But we should win by 40

RE: MBB vs. NW Ohio - MidnightBlueGold - 11-09-2013 07:37 PM

14-0 run. Up 27-19.

RE: MBB vs. NW Ohio - MidnightBlueGold - 11-09-2013 07:46 PM

24-2 run. Up 37-21.

RE: MBB vs. NW Ohio - northcoastRocket - 11-09-2013 07:55 PM

4-14 from the line. What the heck is going on at Savage with the free throw shooting?

Bob Nichols honored during pre game with family and former players present.

Nice to see the starters come back in and take over for about a 5 minute run...up until then I wasn't terribly impressed, particularly after watching that crap against Hillsdale. Hoping to see a more consistent Rocket team in the second half.

RE: MBB vs. NW Ohio - MidnightBlueGold - 11-09-2013 08:53 PM

These last couple minutes will be interesting - 4 freshman plus the senior walk on.

Similar audio problems as with the women's RocketVision broadcast.

Hope they get it fixed soon.

Other than the first 10 minutes of the game, Rockets produced as hoped for. Nice to see this team finally get some depth. Freshmen will be able to learn and improve without the added pressure if having to be counted on for contributions like Juice and Boothe were. Very interested to see how we do against Boston College. Should give us a good measuring stick.

Do you or anyone know if this is going to be a permanent thing on the jerseys? Would be pretty cool if so...kind of like the GSH on Bears jerseys.

This was the first exhibition game that I've ever attended so it's hard for me to gauge the Rockets on it. How do the rest of you feel about the performance with regards to season expectations?

03-lmfao May as well have been an exhibition. Didn't learn much we didn't now, IMO. We're not good enough to mail it in. Pearson and Brown are 1 and 1a but we have more depth than ever. Booth is better, one foul at 9 minutes of second half. Beyond that.....who nows?

Haha, I'm guessing that somehow that wasn't an exhibition game based on your first sentence. So you intrigued me...I went to their website to make sure that I wasn't crazy in thinking that they weren't a Division 1 team (considering I spent 25 years of my life in NWO and never heard of them during those years) and I see they are NAIA. So does UT get credit for the win on it's season record? If so, it's crazy but almost like Ohio's football scheduling strategy. 03-lmfao

BTW, in odd news, their "featured athlete" is a dirt track race car driver.

It'll be permanent for at least this year. When asked in the post game press conference if they'll be wearing BN all year, TK said, "Absolutely. Every jersey. We have 3 sets of jerseys and they all have BN." TK had some nice comments about Bob Nichols. Around 5:15 is when he starts talkign about Bob Nichols.

It does count as a win in the official W-L record, but non-D1 games do nto count in the RPI ratings. Today, bgSUCKS played a D3 team (who had 4 wins last year. Why they would schedule them, I have no idea). Kent St. played a D3 team the other day. At least UT is playing D2 level teams (a lot of people compare NAIA to D2).

And UNOH is big into motorsports. They are a big time sponsor in NASCAR. They have majors that tie directly into working in motorsports. They have official sports teams that are race teams.
