The Cajuns ran out of gas last night because..... - CAJUNNATION - 11-08-2013 12:29 PM

...of the flu.

It's widespread throughout the team.

10 guys got IV's this week.

Trust me when I tell you Louisiana earned that victory last night.

You're making excuses even though you won?

I noticed they wore down a little at the end which surprised me. They looked very strong for most of the game though.

The Cajun's off-season conditioning program this year has paid off.

Could have been any number of factors, flu, short week, etc.

Troy played much better ball-control than Hud wanted to allow them. I heard him say in the pre-game show that the idea was to keep Robinson off the field, our defense rested, and wear down their defense. Cajuns actually scored quickly on many drives, too quickly.

Haven't seen anyone comment on that 4th and short the Cajuns had on about our own 40 or so....late in the game......5 minutes to go or so. We punted. I wanted to see us go for it figuring Troy would score regardless of where we gave them the ball and we'd then have more time to come back. I think they started at their own 15 or so and drove the length of the field before we held them on 4th down. Anyone else feel as I did.

In the end, it appears Hud made the right decision, as he usually does.

They mentioned that on TV.

I would not have gone for it, I would punt. Too many things can happen to just assume they will score again, and they did not. As you said they had to drive the length of the field, ultimately they did not score.

Towards the end of the game when it appeared Troy was destined to score, I was after Hud to call a time out to retain more time to come back. We held, Hud made the correct decision again.

And that's why he's coaching college football while we're talking about it on an internet forum.01-ncaabbs04-rock

You know, back in the days of the Plague in Europe, Soldiers would hurl sick people at opposing armies as a way to weaken them before the battle began. It was the first recorded example of biological warfare in the world.

I think we just found out how to beat UL!!

Troy did make a few adjustments at half time on the defensive side of the football, but it is also accurate to say they had nothing left in the tank in the second half because the 5 day turn around and at least 10 athletes had to have IV's Wednesday. Most were starters. No excuses, just the facts.

I'm a big fan of Cajun Nation, as there is no Cajun fan more hardcore than he is. That being said, I stated yesterday that injuries(illness) and the like were a part of the game and cant be used as excuses.

Now, that being said... I say this... After 4 weeks of 2 Tuesdays, 1 Thursday and a homecoming sandwiched in between, the boys were flat worn out.

Last night could have been the finest game the Cajuns have played in years. Dead Legs, mental fatigue, the whole package and they still pulled it out with a big time Defensive stand at the end.

Not an excuse... a reality. We all fight injury, only one of us has had to play that schedule. This was a testament to Coach Whits hard work in the weight and conditioning area.

After 9 days rest, look for the Cajuns you saw against Tx St, stAte and WKU.

Well-said Z.

And even though the Cajuns' schedule as been sort of crazy this year, it seems to have worked out where there was usually enough time off to recuperate. I'm glad we played the schedule we did both for the current record and the national exposure.

Congrats to the athletes and the coaching staff.

.. . just to be clear . . . they would typically wait for them to DIE FIRST . . . . then the corpse hurling would begin . ... glad we already payed UL, and don't need to worry about the plague . . . or the sick . or the dead . . . 04-cheers

Yes, but I like the image of thousands of sick people flying in the air at an army over hundreds of dead ones.

So what... Troy has tons of injuries right now and without one of our QBs. ULL won fair and square. But Troy played one of their better games despite the injuries.

Great game. It was a war as predicted. Best of luck in getting into a bowl game!

So much whining in this thread. From the winners, no less.

I would imagine that was strictly due to supply and demand....so it probably depended on the skirmish.

BTW....I have some nice, warm blankets that I'd like to give to the ULL players as peace offerings. I assume I could send them in care of the athletic department?

Yea, we ran out of gas, but we you forget we are like the Prius, always have a little reserve in the batteries.
