is clowney respected by his team? - john01992 - 08-29-2013 09:04 PM

as i watched the game i saw him come off the field limping and get shouldered pretty hard by his replacement. clowney did an immediate 180 stare down at him and probably said something but the other guy just kept on going without looking bad.

watching him on the sideline he didnt have a lot a contact with his teammates.

i dont watch a lot of SEC FB and im unfamiliar with this team. im just wondering if this guy is a headcase cuz he doesnt seem to be well liked by his team. reminds me a lot like suh at UNL who was a terrific defensive lineman but absolutely hated by his teammates.

I have heard quite a bit that he is a quiet guy that sort of does his own thing. I haven't heard that he is a jerk or contentious. If there would be anybody on that team who would act indifferent or a little contentious toward him, though, it would be his backup, which is the person you brought up.

He's a DE. He doesn't have to be a leader or respected.

Nope, you are barking up the wrong tree on this one. BBB nailed his personality. I watched the whole game and saw nothing out of the ordinary other than it seemed that he was struggling with that fast snap offense that the Heels had. But, he had missed a couple of weeks of full practice with a bruised shoulder just before the opener.

I personally thought he looked like crap last night, of course that didn't stop ESPN from using the headline "Clowney, Gamecocks pound UNC"

if hes a quiet guy thats totally understandable and probably explains some of this

but from what i saw the "replacement" was a defensive back. not a backup who hate the starter. if i was a teammate and i saw that i woulda called that replacement out right there. and none of his teammates did that and thats where i started to wonder if there was an issue here

and the part i was citing about not chatting it up with teammates was right after he limped off the field. not a single player came up to check on him and make sure he was okay which any teammate would do if your star player got injured.

i could be totally wrong but based on what i saw it looks like there is something going on here

He should be; he's a beast.

Now followed by, that may be a different question - don't know.

Blame laziness from the Associated Press, not ESPN. Well, it was still lazy by ESPN, but it started with AP.

Clowney didn't look good at all last night. He appeared to take plays off and looked winded. The announcers were blaming the heat and some kind of stomach virus, but whatever. I don't think he looked like the consensus No.1 pick last night, nor do I think his performance endeared him much to NFL scouts. NFL teams don't put up with complaints about viruses and double-teams.

It will be interesting to see his performance against Georgia next week.
