And with this schedule that would equal another WNIT bid if we don't win the conference. Other than games with Duke and Ohio State, our at-large window is pretty slim. Just don't see the need to play Delaware State, Umass-Lowell, NC Central, Radford, and Maryland Eastern Shore all in one season. RE: 2013-2014 Lady Monarch Schedule - pandorazboxx - 08-06-2013 11:59 AM Does anyone know how good the rest of the CUSA women's BB teams are? RE: 2013-2014 Lady Monarch Schedule - DaBigBlue - 08-06-2013 12:02 PM We have 4 BCS schools and all on the road but one. The schedule has one stretch between the Radford Nov 17 game and NC Central Jan 5, with 8 road games and only 2 home games and there are some of the tougher road games in that stretch. Looking forward to the season. Challenging but not too daunting. RE: 2013-2014 Lady Monarch Schedule - DaBigBlue - 08-06-2013 12:05 PM CUSA will send 5-7 teams to the post season, stronger than the CAA. CUSA now has two of the top-3 winningest programs in women's BB. RE: 2013-2014 Lady Monarch Schedule - workingodu - 08-06-2013 12:35 PM What I found funny is the comment at the bottom about utsa. No they are not supposed to be a rival but latech on the other hand probably will. With the exception of one program our wbb will still draw more then most of cusa wbb. Utsa draws about 20 people. Their mens game draw like our wbb. So attendance we will still be in good standing. I can see us going to nit. No at large bid. We will be ranked top 4 in cusa or if we pull out a few big wins top 3 RE: 2013-2014 Lady Monarch Schedule - monarchman - 08-06-2013 12:45 PM We will have an uphill battle for an at-large. Sure CUSA will be competitive, however this OOC gives this team little chance to enhance their resume. A team with 4 seniors and 4 juniors don't need 7 OOC opponents that finished 200+ in last years RPI. No reason to run KB off at this point. RE: 2013-2014 Lady Monarch Schedule - CameramanJ - 08-06-2013 02:08 PM I think Barefoot is doing a fine job so far. The team is getting better every year and her system is starting to deliver consistent results. 20-10 with an WNIT bid, hopefully with a favorable seeding. Too early to call 2014, but I think they could potentially be an NCAA tournament team then. KB is doing a great job! RE: 2013-2014 Lady Monarch Schedule - odufansam - 08-06-2013 02:28 PM (08-06-2013 01:57 PM)ODUDrunkard13 Wrote:(08-06-2013 01:15 PM)jumpshooter Wrote: Or what, get fired? The team is improving. If the goal is to be a Top 50 program though, ODU still has a long way to go. They finished around 135 in the RPI last year. 19 wins may look good on paper, but the majority of those came against very weak competition. ODU only had one Top 100 win. IMO the verdict is still out. Agreed. I want to see the LM program win just as much as anyone else, but they just haven't beaten any quality teams for awhile. The CAA was awful last year, and aside from the better competition, CUSA will be considerably more challenging with it being 16 teams plus the additional travel for the team. Hopefully the attendance slide comes to a halt, but it's doubtful with the early season home games. Year 4, with a roster largely of her own players, good incoming talent, and 8 upperclassman, I think an NCAA bid should be the expectation, this year, and the next. However, I wouldn't be shocked if we come out with 16-17 wins this year. RE: 2013-2014 Lady Monarch Schedule - KevinMac - 08-06-2013 03:53 PM This team is going to contend in C-USA this year and be the team to beat heading into next year. I will be surprised if they don't at least win the regular season in 2014. RE: 2013-2014 Lady Monarch Schedule - monarchman - 08-07-2013 09:58 AM Barefoot gets a 2 year extension. Good for her, it can only help with recruiting. http://hamptonroads.com/2013/08/odus-karen-barefoot-gets-2year-contract-extension RE: 2013-2014 Lady Monarch Schedule - DaBigBlue - 08-07-2013 10:36 AM Wood giving out all these new contracts, he must have thought I already won the Powerball. |
