Good work by them...These lunatics deserve all the ridicule.04-cheers

The most cringe-worthy photos are the ones with 6 and 7 year olds holding those signs their parents made for them.

I'll just have to look at the counter-protestor hottie toward the bottom of the page to make me feel better, even if she doesn't know the difference between its and it's.

The Founding Fathers would be amused and content to see the Westboro church and gay activists peacefully protesting next to each other.

True, the WBC crowd (politically speaking, does 40 people count as a "crowd"?) deserves ridicule. But what they don't deserve is our repeated, ongoing attention. They are the equivalent of an @ss-pimple, why flatter them?

I do wish law-enforcement would get creative when these people show up. Tow their cars. Make some arrests. Get in their face. Stop the make-believe that "The Constitution" allows them to make a spectacle of somebody's funeral. Tell them if they think they are being treated unfairly to file a lawsuit. Then let the jury tell them where to get off.

That guy seemed like an equally deranged lunatic from the other side. On the other hand, his wife did have a pretty good body, so he has that going for him.....

I vote no. Next time it might be my opinion that's unpopular.

I think they should be publicly scorned, but they should not be harassed by the state.

exactly... or do like those Mississippi guys did when they tried to show up down there.. .somehow all those trucks ended up parked right in front and right behind the bumpers of the cards of the Westboro loons...

And the hotel owner said they didnt' do anything wrong, cause they were parked in legal parking spaces...

Let the people deal with these clowns, not the state/federals.

Got to admit...that looks like a funny protest. Would have been a hoot to be standing there
watching it.

Oh year, by the way, Great Britain just legalized gay marriage as I just put up another thread on it.

RE: How Orlando trolled the Westboro Baptist Church - Hambone10 - 07-17-2013 11:48 AM

Okay... Let's be honest here....

Obviously there were plenty of "stop hate" protesters dressed reasonably and holding professionally printed signs. These guys stripped almost naked and put on masks. They AREN'T helping the argument. Just as in every other argument, the crazies in the group end up defining the group. The very "normal" looking anti-hate protesters will be defined by pony boy in his speedo.

Motown, while I understand your point... would you prefer they be holding the "pro gay marriage" signs, or would you prefer their parents left them at home, or worse, saw half naked mom and horse head in a speedo dad come home from "a day at work"? Whether they are holding signs or not is immaterial to the education they are getting... and while I agree with the idea that they are getting a poor education, we don't get to pick and choose people to be parents.

That is correct. They have the right to peacefully make fools of themselves.

WBC has done a lot of gay rights, ironically. They publically parade the extension of what many anti-gay Christians are too afraid to say publically, and show many as to how illogical and anti-American anti-gay discrimination is.

If I had to choose between the two, I would support anyone over Westboro Baptist Church, and I am Baptist. They actually help the gay cause in this case. Never will forget my son in the Marines during two tours in Iraq, calling me from Iraq, asking me to pledge to him not to let Westboro Baptist Church protest at his funeral if he got killed. Will never forgive Westboro Baptist for making him be thinking of that instead of concentrating on his mission in Iraq one hundred per cent.

Pretty hateful way to say it.

How about they exhibit the same lack of Christian values that they claim to be supporting. I suspect a decent number of the people "against" the WBC are Christians questioning their Christianity

RE: How Orlando trolled the Westboro Baptist Church - gdunn - 07-17-2013 01:13 PM

DaSaint is right.. They were in Brandon, MS to protest a military funeral for a guy that was a Marine and died in battle protecting his brothers (I say that because most military guys consider those in the Armed Forces their brothers). The day of the funeral, they were blocked in (It was easy to spot their cars, they all had Kansas tags). They called local PD and Sheriff's Department, who notified them they were on funeral duty for a hero that came home one final time. They'd deal with it AFTER the hero had a proper burial.

Some did get out and was eating breakfast somewhere, and the same thing happened.

No, this isn't photoshopped. This is a WBC protest from last year with one of the members wearing a Glee t-shirt.

You could interpret this two ways...

1) She was wearing the t-shirt 'ironically'.
2) She was completely oblivious and just threw on some t-shirt

If you answered #2, you are correct. #1 would actually be a little cerebral, which they obviously aren't. As it turns out, she said she "didn't know anything about the shirt, but that her sister gave it to her when they headed out this morning"

Either one is much preferable to them holding a "God Hates F*gs" sign (which were the 6 and 7 year olds I was referring to).

Two things that people should know about Westboro

1. They are most likely a Marxist organization designed to tarnish public opinion on Christianity.
2. They make their money off suing people who attack them. They encourage people to attack them. They gain financially.

Have there been physical violence against them? I've often been surprised at how seldom they've been attacked, unless I'm missing some juicy stories. It'd seem that every time they protest some funeral, someone from the funeral party would lose it and go fists a-flying (and for good reason).

1. I don't believe that for a minute.

2. Yeah, pretty much.
