Why would they write about something like this and tell the public that only the Cielo Vista Optimist club was invited?

Don't they know that parents of other leagues are going to read this and wonder why their children cannot go?

fack, don't you ever stop complaining? It's at the plaza theater. You complain more than a girl

Why would they write about something like this and tell the public that only the Cielo Vista Optimist club was invited?

Why wouldn't a reporter for the El Paso Times write about that?

Also, who said only the Cielo Vista Optimist Club was invited?

Quote:but representatives from the new Pacific Coast League franchise have contacted a number of youth baseball teams, inviting them to "an event" Tuesday afternoon at the Plaza Theatre.

It was probably an situation of which clubs were easiest to contact.

RE: The Official Downtown Baseball Stadium Discussion Thread - Fitbud - 10-19-2013 12:38 AM

This was brought to my attention by a co worker who has two sons that play baseball in another league. Apparently, they did not invite all youth league organizations.

Personally, I couldn't care less but my friend was really upset. He said they are always looking for opportunities to take their kids to baseball related events. They were disappointed to find out that this event was invitation only and their kids were not invited.

I understand if MountainStar cannot reach out to every single youth league in the area. That would be insane. However, the Media should have waited until after the event to report.

stop with your bs stories. Go, and continue to pull sand out of your vuhgina

RE: The Official Downtown Baseball Stadium Discussion Thread - mistabinks - 10-19-2013 12:08 PM

Why couldn't your coworker contact them?

RE: The Official Downtown Baseball Stadium Discussion Thread - Fitbud - 10-21-2013 12:50 PM

I don't know if he has or hasn't contacted them. All I know is that his two boys did not get invited to the event. They do not belong to the Cielo Vist Optimist.

I called 533-BASE and asked if any little leaguers could attend. They said while technically it is by invitation that they would not turn away any kids. All you have to do is call that number and put your name on the list.

I would think that if someone was 'upset' that they could at least make one simple phone call.

Thanks for the information. I don't think my buddy knows that much about the team. He only knows that I am following what is going on. I'll let him know. I hope it's not too late for him to make it out there.

RE: The Official Downtown Baseball Stadium Discussion Thread - mistabinks - 10-22-2013 02:42 PM

Why was he so upset if he doesn't know that much about the team?

Because he thought that only one optimist leaque was invited to go.

As I have said before, he is always looking for opportunities to take his boys to sporting events especially if they are free. Apparently, having two kids in T ball is costing him a fortune.

Last year, I gave him my season tickets to UTEP football a couple of times.

RE: The Official Downtown Baseball Stadium Discussion Thread - mistabinks - 10-22-2013 03:26 PM

I don't know. You initially said this was brought to your attention by this coworker. You also said this coworker doesn't know much about the team. Yet he was upset because he thought only one optimist league was invited. It's odd that he thought that since every article mentions that several leagues were invited - not just one. Still though, it's the apathy that bothers me. He brought it to your attention but he obviously didn't have the correct info. It is lame when one gets upset and they don't have the whole story. Even worse, he did nothing about it. It took me 20 seconds to get the team on the line. Two minutes later I was told I could add my name to the list. What's his excuse? Too busy being upset? Pathetic.

2 kids in T-ball does not cost a fortune. Gimme a f'n break!!!! It's about $100 a kid, maybe a bit more.

No event could possibly include all optimist clubs in El Paso.

He's not a practical person.... Also, he wants it for free too. ....... Otro..

Perhaps the word "upset" is the right word. What he actually said was "that sucks"

Frankly, I don't believe T ball should cost a fortune either but according to my friend, it did cost him a couple hundred dollars to get them registered. On top of that, he had to pay a couple hundred for their home and away uniforms. Also, he mentioned a fee he had to pay to go to parent training on how to act at baseball games.

Finally, their are other fees involved which include purchasing baseballs for the games, bats that he purchased for his kids, and snacks that are required for before and after each game. Supposedly, there is even a collection for an end of season party too.

Sounds like a scam to me. I'm glad I have daughters.

Never heard of fundraisers for the team, huh?

Interesting that you should mention that. My friend once explained to me that his kids were on another team ( which will remain nameless) with one coach. After the first season, he split the team in two and asked my friend to coach and fund raise. My friend did and they fund raised several thousand dollars for the upcoming season.

Before the next season, the original coach took the best players on the team and relegated the poor players to my friends team. My friend and his parents were so upset that they decided to form a new team. The coach then told them that the money that was raised belonged to him because he had rights o the team name.

When my friend tried to fight it with the league commissioner, he lost. He had to reinburse the coach for the funds that were spent, the coach confiscated the equipment and the remaining funds were give to the coach.

My friend lost everything. That is why his boys are on a new team.

Little league baseball is cut throat.

I hope a bus traveling 5 mph and two miles away doesn't come at your coworker. The poor bastard wouldn't have a chance. Crossing the street is cut throat.

seems like you know a lot about your friend, a lot more than you initially tried to portray... Like I said before, cut it out with your bs stories.

"Thanks doc, I will..... oops, eh, um, I'll tell him."
