I think we have seen the end of FBS (except for possibly the Sun Belt) expansion for at least the decade. But, I can see UConn as a candidate for the Big 10, being in New England and near New York City.

i think more and more they should take the chance and invest in Buffalo. As long as Buffalo and New York state are willing/able to commit to going big time

UConn itself is in Stores which is closer to Boston than NY. That being said they may be a candidate in the long run. The problem is who do you pair with them? You need a western school of some kind in my opinion.

If Delany thinks its too hard to crack the ACC code right now I wouldn't put it past him to take a look at Connecticut.
I'm not sure who you pair Connecticut with.....maybe Kentucky of the SEC since that league doesn't have a GOR?
B1G East: UConn, Rutgers, Maryland, Penn St, Ohio St, Kentucky, Michigan, Michigan State
That would instantly make the B1G the #1 basketball league in the country by adding UConn & UK.
The SEC then could respond by adding USF for another toe hold in Florida.

The SBC clearly has to add one. To a lesser extent, it is possible that the MAC could add one member to balance the conference at 14 members. I don't expect it, but the B12 could change its mind about staying at 10, in which case there could be some ripples affecting over conferences.

The problem with Buffalo is it doesn't control its own state athletically.
That is the B1G expansion model; Nebraska, Rutgers and Maryland are the only game in town in their respective states for FB. UConn also has that quality going for it.
Buffalo is 3rd behind Syracuse and Army in New York State. It doesn't sound like the B1G way if they did take Buffalo.

The B1G could look at Missouri or even Kentucky from the SEC as a pairing partner.

First and foremost, John Hopkins. New York City is a melting pot, there is no single University to grab to get in there. The area he is talking about IS New Jersey and Maryland. So...Rutgers, Maryland and perhaps Johns Hopkins. Why would Temple help in that area over in Philadelphia? The Big Ten already has Penn State. If they were never going to take Pitt than why would they ever take Temple?

Land grants are effectively second flagships, with statewide missions and followings.
The NY state flagship situation is quite muddled. There is no single identifiable flagship. Buffalo, Stony Brook, Binghamton and Albany are truly coequal. Buffalo and Albany are obviously the oldest campuses, but were not flagships until the 1950's. Before that, UB was private (no different than Syracuse)and Albany was the state teachers college (equivalent to San Jose St. in California). Meanwhile, Cornell is the land grant in NYS. Because the flagship situation is so muddled, there is currently no school that corresponds to the flagship universities that comprise most of the Big Ten membership. This is a situation that Syracuse has relied upon in building its athletic program to an elite level.

Nope and I am pretty sure you know I am not. I may have said a not so nice thing about you a couple posts up but I do give you more credit than to actually believe what you just posted. The Big Ten doesn't HAVE to move to 16 and it surely isn't worth moving to 16 with schools that don't actually have anything in common with the Big Ten, such as Temple.
Hell, I don't think Buffalo belongs in the Big Ten either. Unfortunately New York hasn't embraced a University system like most other States. If they had a major Flagship then it would probably have already had an invite into the conference long ago.

The Big Ten isn't looking for non-full members that aren't associate (and an associate for basketball and football isn't going to happen).
