2014 Football Schedule - camelsinthecreek - 05-03-2013 01:44 PM According to http://www.gocamels.com, CU's 2014 non-conference football schedule is set. Aug 28 Charlotte in Buies Creek Sept 6 App State in Boone TBA. Charleston Southern These games will be interesting for sure. RE: 2014 Football Schedule - OrangeCamel - 05-03-2013 01:50 PM App State will be the Camels' 1st-ever FBS opponent. Other non-league games in 2014 are Charlotte at home and Charleston Southern away. In other words...all scholarship programs! Really surprised at scheduling App!! RE: 2014 Football Schedule - CU97 - 05-03-2013 02:05 PM I just read where Mercer, ETSU and VMI are soon likely to accept SOCON invitiation to replace App, CofC and GaSo. i think well replace VMI as BSC scholly football if all this pans out. It is a definite 0-2 with an almost certain 0-3. While Charleston Southern is TERRIBLE for a scholarship program, they have played the premier program (Jacksonville) in the league extremely tough the last two years. That is far from a guaranteed win especially if you consider the Camels in a rebuilding stage. Plus, 2014 looks like it will be AT Charleston Southern. The reason I really dislike this schedule is very simple. If you go 0-3 (I believe CU will) and then go 5-3 or 4-4 in the league, you have a losing season and no one is happy. In order to have a winning season with that type of non-conference schedule you have to go 6-2. That is an above average year for most teams in the PFL. I am just not a fan of playing three programs in a three game non-conference schedule who are all above your level.
