I was very impressed with Sebastino and Drew Hare in the Huskie Bowl!

I was not there so I would like to hear details as well. What I gather from HuskieWire tweets is that it was a turnover fest and Brescacin and Bowers looked good.

RE: Huskie Bowl Final - 7 - 04-20-2013 06:37 PM

It was more entertaining to watch than the Spring Game because it was an actual game, but I'm not sure how much you can take from it because it was kind of guys just thrown together. A lot of the older guys didn't play much. Lynch barely played at all, Tommy didn't play much, and Ward was only playing in nickel packages.

With that being said, I thought the defenses overall looked better than they had all spring. The secondary made some plays and picked off some passes, although some of them were awful throws from the QBs.

Canada probably had the best day of everyone. Caught a bomb from Hare which probably should have been picked, but he went up and stole it from the DB. Also caught a TD pass from Hare which was a great throw. I think A.J. is going to have a big year. He gets a case of the drops once in awhile, but he's looked real good all spring. Between Brown, Lewis, Wells, Canada, A.J., and Miller I think we should be more than fine at WR this year.

None of the QBs looked particularly great. It wasn't Hare's best practice, but I still think he looked the best of the bunch and will be the backup this year. Williams got a ton of playing because Lynch didn't practice much, and he really didn't do much with it. I think it will come down to if they want McIntosh's legs or Hare's arm backing up Lynch. It should be a fun battle between those two next year for the starting job.

I thought some of the linebackers stood out. Boomer laid somebody out (Bowers I think) on the sideline. Santa had a great practice. Obviously not a linebacker, but I thought Durante looked great too.

Was Anthony Wells out there? Heard a rumor he got carted off pre Huskie Bowl.

Def was hurt. Saw him on the sideline in a boot and cart.

I was at the practice today; was glad to see Lynch's reps limited. Williams is talented, but his decision making needs a lot of work. Hare looked really good. Giorgio and Stingley run with authority, something we lacked last season from the RB position. The OL is strong and deep; the WR position is filled with talent. AJ is a great route runner. Two young LB's, Folliard, Smaha both good size, speed and a good footbal IQ. Mays made a nice hit, Lemon had a pick, but missed a few tackles. Santa made a lot of plays, seems to have a ton a fun out there; and a nose for the football. Cotton needs to get stronger and more aggressive if he is ever going to see the field. I would definitely put Gorrell ahead of him. The practice seems less organized than what I recall from last season. This is somewhat understandable given the amount of new coaches. I am looking forward to the season.

Ouch big loss for the Huskies.

Blake Holder and Josh Brebant were there. EdgyTim also tweeted the following...

Chicago St Rita Tommy Mister and Lamar Dawson heading to #NIU today for the Huskies spring game

edit: getting either of those guys would be great. edgytim posted articles on their reactions to the "spring game"...no idea what they are

RE: Huskie Bowl Final - MaddDawgz02 - 04-20-2013 09:40 PM

I have a feeling before its all said and done Smaha is going to be a featured offensive back for the Huskies and not a LB

Noticed a handful of recruits in the stands and walking outside the Yordon.

What was up with TLL yesterday?
He should NOT use #3 ever again!

Lynch threw a few ducks.

AJ has a great arm for a trick play or two this season. Threw a great 45 yard pass in warmups and the 40+ yard pass across the field which should have been caught.

Who was #10 RB towards the end. He seemed to have some immediate speed. (Morrow or Stingily?)

Did anyone else think that the hand offs took too long?

I Realize that the team was just thrown together but some individual performances were a bit deflating while others looked really good.

#10 was Stingily for the Black Team.

He just visited MSU last week and was impressed. http://www.detroitnews.com/article/20130419/OPINION03/304190304

They must be hitting the Chicagoland area hard. Just picked up 2 commits from IL

RE: Huskie Bowl Final - MaddDawgz02 - 04-21-2013 03:43 PM

What would the depth chart look like if Wells is unable to go for the opener. That is really going to hurt to not have him in there.

RE: Huskie Bowl Final - 7 - 04-21-2013 06:29 PM

I'll be pretty surprised if any of the RBs you saw yesterday see any amount of playing time as a RB. Bowers has the best shot, but outside of him none of those guys are going to play (including Stingly).

RE: Huskie Bowl Final - HuskieJWN - 04-21-2013 06:58 PM

DT depth chart would be Bishop and Gordon as starters and Mario Jones and probably Anderson as back ups.
