Of course, I want UAB to get all of those players it wants, but as I observed in the WBB thread, it will not be any certain thing that top state players will not prefer to play where BB is highly valued and they can be BMOC for their prowess with a round ball. Note that ALL 3 of those past notable players he mentioned went to schools where BB is the most valued sport at the school. Is that likely to remain the way of Alabama's sports world?

That article is a joke. Talks about the " state schools" recent history in the NCAA and only mentions Alabama and Auburn and barely mentions UAB at the end before he regurgitates info on the class of 2014.

And I like how he refers to Solomon's "extensive research" which consists of checking when Alabama and Auburn was in the tournament.

Looks like Jon Solomon has a suck up fan.

Looks like we have another amateur sports writer.

I'm guessing Haase haas stoked a little fear down I-59.

Soloman did look up everyone's attendance in the article referenced. Let's give him credit for his diligent work.

It feels intentional that each and every time in the player offers it says, "....and UAB". He's treating UAB as a mere afterthought in this article.

...but of course it also shows how hard Haase is working on in-state kids. He's starting to make the Updyke crowd nervous.

Very seldom in the past would you see a UAB offer for all of the top players.

Something is changing.

We have a coach who wants to win. He isn't settling on retreads, and he is working his ass off to get the guys he wants. You are going to swing and miss more often than not in recruiting, but Haase doesn't appear to be afraid of this happening.

It is intentional. It's called alphabetical order.

When Coach Haase gets some of those instate players to come to UAB, things will definitely be changing for the better. How many of those top instate players actually decide to play for instate universities will answer a lot of questions about the general future of BB at the college level in Alabama. If they go to the UKY, Wichita, INU or other "BB first" schools, it will be an answer too.

This article is a joke, its written to get all three fan bases cutting eachother, there by generating hits....
Screw them dont play along... let stay under the radar and gobble up the players...

Calhoun's father is the AAU coach that some of the players listed play on, and players ususally generate toward playing with players they like, know eachothers games, and have had success with..

I feel this staff is going to be a staff that will recruit, recruit and recruit.

I believe UAB will become a destination team...

There are two AAU teams that keep popping up the most when researching about bb recruits.

Of the two AAU teams, who are their major sponsors, and what connections to do they have to the schools recruiting them ? Their AAU coach will use his influence to keep getting paid.

Well, I'm pretty sure that was the intention. No one ever accused the folks at al.com of being very bright or precise.

Wichita St won it's 2nd NCAA game in 30+ yrs.
I wouldn't refer to them as in the same basketball first status as UK or IU.

Wichita State may not get the quality of players that UKY, UNC, INU, Kansas, & Duke can get, but that was not what I was talking about. It is still a school that is primarily known by sports fans for its BB team, hence the "BB first" designation. .

How's that? They won two games in 2006 and lost in the Sweet Sixteen.
