Happy happy. hope weather improves

RE: spring football starts - niucyberdawg - 03-18-2013 10:26 AM

forecast this week is not very favorable.

With the fickle finger of mother nature and fate at hand, next season with IPF available it will probably be weather more like last march/april.

Anybody know when the 2013-14 basketball season starts? :bean: 05-hide 04-bolt

RE: spring football starts - RitzHuskie - 03-18-2013 10:36 AM

How can they start spring ball with snow on the ground at Huskie Stadium? Looking at weather.com it doesn't look like we can start with good practices till next weekend.

Looks like Carey's initiative to start spring ball a week earlier than last year may have backfired.

Perhaps they'll work out in the indoor facility of Dekalb? Think Carey posted a picture of it a few weeks back, assuming thats in DeKalb....

Basketball starts Nov 8th. You better get your tickets early dogfan. I hear they are going really fast for 2013-14 season.

I already have my tickets, but this gives me a headstart in trying to get rid of them. I just need to check my budget to see how much I can afford to pay suckers (oops, I mean "fans") to take them off my hands.

Good call. Why start when the weather's so bad no one can feel their hands out there and you may have to change the schedule daily due to snow and rain.

so they will have a spring game in the middle of their practice schedule? Not sure how that will all work?

It was foolish to try to have spring practice a week early anyway without the IPF being ready. In the future it won't matter.

RE: spring football starts - NIU007 - 03-19-2013 03:45 PM

Maybe they hoped the weather would be more like last year.

Not necessarily. You can add a practice here or there. It all just depends on how they go about fixing the schedule and how they want to do this and that. Another practice after the game could be helpful besides just film.

RE: spring football starts - armour248 - 03-19-2013 03:52 PM

They are having the Huskie Bowl on 4/20 too

RE: spring football starts - HuskieJohn - 03-19-2013 05:05 PM

Other than tomorrow I don't see any issue with this week.

They have had 2 scrimmages in the past.

RE: spring football starts - 7 - 03-19-2013 05:36 PM

The Spring Game being a week early isn't actually a bad thing. I know some schools are scheduling one more practice after the Spring Game. It'll allow the coaches to break down film of a live game and teach them in more practices afterwards. Not the end of the world at all.

RE: spring football starts - NIU1981 - 03-19-2013 06:21 PM

They scrimmage at virtually every practice once they get the pads on so Spring Game or not, you'll see some action if you go to a practice. In the past it seemed like the scrimmage at the second to last Saturday was more intense than the Spring Game by the way.
