Love it.

Areva CEO Mike Rencheck wore a UNCC tie for Monday's announcement because that is where his future talent is being trained.

"Being part of that energy hub, with strong academic background, makes all the difference in the world," he said.

So, Eyewitness News went to EPIC, which stands for Energy Production and Infrastructure Center.

"There is a control room up there," sai Dr. Zia Salami, who calls the program rare in America.

Companies located there can cherry-pick trained workers who already are living there.

Areva is already doing it.

"They hired six out of 10 new workers from UNCC. They are getting the freshest student. They know what is going on," said Salami.

Recently, Areva donated almost $2 million to the EPIC program, planting seeds for its future in Charlotte.

Wow, good to see. Looks like one of the main reasons they are moving here is because of UNC Charlotte. Very nice.

Hopefully we have already talked to them about this but I doubt they would be willing to considering they just put $2M into the EPIC building.

You would think we could get Lowe's (since the CEO & CFO are alumni) or Duke Energy to pony up and buy the naming rights. We are now less than 6 months away and buzz is growing large by the day.

Spring game is going to be one huge tease for everyone.

Duke Energy just subsidized the DNC to the tune of $10 million and they're facing billions of dollars in losses because of the Crystal River Nuclear Power plant being shut down and the hundreds of millions in cost overruns in the construction of the coal plant being constructed in Indiana. Don't see them spending any extra money when they have to answer for those items.

My guess is Lowe's would have already made a move if they planned to.

It will be interesting to see who gets the naming rights. I'm confident we will secure them, I'm just not sure what companies in Charlotte would jump on it. Have a feeling it will be completely unexpected however.

Lowes already has name brand power/recognition in Charlotte, why would they need to sponsor us? 5th 3rd bank is trying to build out it's footprint in Charlotte, wouldn't mind them stepping up, or someone like Chiquita that just relocated there.

Chiquita has also suffered massive losses and has already started laying people off in Charlotte. It's looking like they're going to have to pay the city of Charlotte back all the incentive money they received.
