Just heard Rulon Gardner on the radio. Made some good points about how for certain countries, wrestling is a very big deal. Also, an original Olympic sport.

One thing I like with wrestling is the idea of weight classes. A place for many not physically equipped for other sports.

There is a real "Gay Games" and even they have wrestling. I can't believe they're keeping speed walking and trampoline but getting rid of wrestling. So stupid.

To be fair, both fall under major categories: Athletics [track & field] (walking) and Gymnastics (trampoline). Therefore, they would have to completely wipe out the major category to open up a spot for a new one. Gymnastics gets too large a crowd to be dropped and track & field is the namesake of the games.
You want a category that should be dropped? Equestrian sports. 3 categories: Jumping, Dressage, and Eventing. Please tell me how a HUMAN has to train for those games?
But with this new opening, can we PLEASE get Tug-of-war back in the games?
