It's very interesting, but not unexpected, to see every Marshall fan using the same recruiting service to brag about their class, lol.

BTW, EVERY other recruiting service has many of those other schools ahead of them, plus isn't this the same one that had Tulane as the best class going early in the recruiting period? Ha.

RE: Interesting recruiting class rankings - goherd17 - 02-06-2013 04:06 PM

come on herd fans we had a good class but it has not translated into one win as of yet. I need to see on field results I think our offense will be great again this coming year but our defense needs to improve a ton.

We moved to the BE and have a better recruiting class than Marshall.

Get out of Louisiana! Texas isn't big enough for ya?

RE: Interesting recruiting class rankings - 200yrs2late - 02-06-2013 05:55 PM

Go easy on Marshall fans, they're undefeated right now.

RE: Interesting recruiting class rankings - blunderbuss - 02-06-2013 06:14 PM

LOL. Which recruiting service is that?

Anyway...... a blind man can see something isn't quite right up there in Huntington.

What pole did you get this information?.......espn had ECU @ 64 (Marshall 65) today and scout had ECU No. #1 (Marshall 2) in Cusa.
I am not doubting your information but there are several poles out there and the bottom line is games are placed on the field and not on websites. The key is having student-athlete in your school
for 4 or 5 years and having success on and off the field and in the classroom. This applies to all schools and should not be a pissing contest. Keep love in your heart and for your fellow conference members. You are Marshall but We Are Cusa!

That was Rivals.

Thanks for info......for some reason rival was not too kind to ECU
but like I said it will take two or three years and if 75% are still playing we all will have a great recruiting year:)

ESPN, Scout, 247sports are all about in the same area with their team ranking and Rivals is kinda the odd ball with some teams all over the board up and down. Yet the OP just uses the Rivals rankings to try and talk smack, for a class of players the most won't play or start for two years.

And to prove how little these rankings mean:

ECU's 2005 signing class Sr.'s in 2009 were ranked 12th, dead last, yet that class ranked dead last won C-USA.

Marshall according to Rivals has had top 5 C-USA classes every year outside of 2009, and as of yet has failed to win the East once and finished top 5 in C-USA only once. ECU on the other hand has had 3 classes rank (by Rivals) outside the top 5, but has only finished outside the top 5 once since 2005, won the east and C-USA twice with classes the average 2 to 3 spots lower than Marshall. Hmmmm, wonder why ECU does better on average with classes that rank lower than Marshall.

Here a thought, one, our classes are under rated. Two, we're developing our players better. These ranking are garbage and decide nothing, none of these recruits have played yet or proved nothing.

Just a thought. Have a nice day.04-cheers

RE: Interesting recruiting class rankings - GrayBeard - 02-07-2013 12:11 AM

Marshall wins a conference championship....finally.

RE: Interesting recruiting class rankings - Nice Guy Eddie - 02-07-2013 12:12 AM

It's kinda funny. I don't think Tulsa's recruiting classes have every been ranked higher than fourth or fifth in C-USA since we joined in 2005. But Tulsa's won two conference championships and four division titles. We've gone to bowl games every year except 2009 with a 5-2 bowl record including two Liberty Bowl wins.

We may not sign that many highly ranked recruits but we do a pretty good job with the guys we get.

#1 according to Rivals in 2005, #2 in 2007

Ecumbh1999, both of those tell a different story than others are trying to tell. Too bad that we won't see how those classes do head to head in 2 or 3 years.

RE: Interesting recruiting class rankings - ECUPirated - 02-07-2013 02:51 AM

Nothing against Marshall, but it's a little hard to believe that any of our schools had a better recruiting year than Stanford, BYU, Boise State, or Kansas State.

Miami I could see...............but not the others.

RE: Interesting recruiting class rankings - ECUGrad07 - 02-07-2013 08:57 AM

Marshall has the lowest standards for taking student-athletes quite possibly in all of college football. Most of these guys won't qualify, otherwise they would have gone somewhere else. Hmmm...the allure of Huntington, West Virginia must have been too strong. I guess they want to build something special with a coach that might not be there another year...

As Marshall fans like to say to ECU fans... those kids are "props."

See you in Huntington.
