Take away that lucky damn shot by UTEP and ECU is sitting in 4th place, with a showdown game against UCF on Saturday for 3rd place.

I'm sure ECU has benefited from similar type of shots in the past that you'd be offended if someone called "lucky." Remember, Marv I picked ECU 6th this season. My Adonis Thomas prediction appears to be a bust though LOL.

I don't know many teams that have benefitted from a lucky 40 foot heave at the buzzer; but if that helps you sleep at night then go for it.

BTW, your ECU prediction might be a bust too, because they are sitting in 5th right now; and there are 8 games left, so there is an opportunity for them to climb. Time will tell.

A different way to look at the standings is with the Haskins +/- system.

USM +3
Memphis +3
UCF +2
UTEP +2
Tulsa -1
Marshall -2
Houston -3
ECU -3
Rice -4
Tulane -4
SMU -5
UAB -6

Perfect play by the Miners, well executed and the shot fell. Low percentage shot to be sure, but not luck. I found the perfect emoticon just for you. 05-sosad

8 games left for ECU..We need to hold court at home.(Southern Miss and Marshall will be tough) and try to steal a couple on the road between UCF, Southern Miss, SMU and Tulsa...We could end up 10-6 or 9-7

That is a tough schedule. I could see ECU going 4-4 the rest of the way. UTEP has a much easier remaining schedule. We have two of the three top teams at home and we play Rice twice and Houston twice. UTEP could go 8-1 or 7-2 to finish out.

NOTE: UCF is not eligible to play in the CUSA Tourn (or any other post-season tourn) so for the CUSA Tourn, those teams that finish behind UCF in the final standings, technically move up 1 spot.

Top 4 teams in CUSA Tourn get 1st round byes.

That emoticon describes that so called play. 40 foot heaves are not plays. They are hopes and prayers; but they are not plays.

Replay shows it to be more like a 27-28 ft SHOT (certainly not a heave).

Dude got off a nice long jumper...and hit it.

ECU vs The world lol

RE: CUSA Standings/Scores after Feb 2nd Games - stanman505 - 02-03-2013 11:25 AM

On the radio post game show after the ECU game, coach Johnson said that Moore had hit 15 in a row from about that spot during practice the day before. Moore wanted to prove to Floyd that he could make the 3 ball. That was part of the play they designed during the time out. It was the second option because ECU took away the first. Moore doesn't take many 3's but he is 14-30 so it was far from a lucky shot.

It was a low percentage shot that a skilled player made. It is not a conventional play drawn up by a coach, but rather one of necessity.

It actually was the second option. Coach Johnson said that Streeter was supposed to drive the ball and look for Tucker and that Moore should follow the play. They took away Tucker and Moore was right there.

I am simply stating that he made, to his credit, a tough shot. As a Tiger fan, I will be quite pleased to see a steady stream of contested threes from well beyond the arc by him during the UTEP/Memphis game.

So with UCF out, Miners would the 3rd seed as of right now... It's going to be a interesting 2nd half of CUSA play... I wouldn't predict who the Miners will beat... They are too up and down this year... Someone's gotta knock Memphis off... :)
