MBB vs George Mason - hburg - 02-02-2013 10:45 AM

Should be an interesting game. JMU stands at Number 2 in the conference with a 13-10 (7-3) record. GMCC stands at number 6 in the conference with a 12-9 (5-4) record. JMU has won 4 straight, while GMCC has lost 2 straight.

Unfortunately, I will not be able to keep score like I did this past Thursday as I will be at the game. Cell phone coverage is horrible there. But I will update when I can, especially at halftime and at the end.

117 row D here. 3 out of the 4 remaining home games are against teams JMU lost to on the road. Today's game should be great, probably go down to the last minute.

Not really a good first half. Moore at the line for 3. Net repair. Down 6 30-24.

Refs are really bad. Costing us the game and momentum. Plus we are rebounding poorly.

If we lose this game it will be because bad refs, poor ft shooting, and poor rebounding.

GMU also shot very well. Probably one of their better shooting nights.

When the shortest ref was near the Mason bench where I was sitting I asked him how much money he bet on Mason.

JMU's shooting was horrible. 6 of 24 3s and 11 missed ft. brutal

RE: MBB vs George Mason - Dukes09 - 02-02-2013 11:39 PM

i was there and enjoyed it despite the loss. great crowd and one of the bigger ones i've seen in the games i've been to over the last 8 years. I think the 05 Georgetown game was one that I went to that had a larger crowd according to the attendance (over 5500). I can't recall specifically what other Mason home games I went to, but at least 1 or 2 others as an undergrad.
We shot ourselves in the foot by shooting only 60.7% from the FT line. You can't win shooting like that.
However, I know I say this every time, but those really were some of the worst refs I've seen in quite some time. The lead ref seemed to want to throw his weight around and seemed to call damn near anything a foul. I lost it when they called a foul when we should have gone ahead by a point on the wide open layup. That completely kills momentum.
Wasn't that a pretty late foul call too? or was it just too loud to hear the whistle?
I do like that the convo got so loud that we couldn't hear the whistle, we're fans that will support a good product.

I will also echo the fact that I was proud of the support that showed up for the game.
