Technically, we are only 12-4 (NCAA doesn't recognize wins over NAIA schools) and our best RPI win is over #124 Denver. Smoke and mirrors at this point.

13-4 not 12-4. We have only played 2 NAIA games not 3

Technically, you're a glass half-empty guy. Why even bring that smoke and mirrors comment in a thread addressing the impact of Donnie T thus far?

Smh.

I don't care who you've been playing, that picture of Reed Green is impressive.

No not at all. Quite the opposite in fact. He's the one that started us on this trend of playing NAIA schools (Blue Mountain) and such. I find it to be complete cowardness. A few weeks ago we played Dillard for God's shake. Was JcPenny's booked already?

There are nearly 350 division I basketball schools, plenty of which would be willing to play us. Scheduling these NAIA schools is complete bull****. Makes us look like wusses as far as I'm concerned. I can't get excited about a team that literally doesn't have 1 single descent win. Again, smoke and mirrors.

oldtiger it was impressive by Southern Miss standards. DT has reached out to the community and in that picture you see the results. Our AD also deserves some credit, there was a concert and tailgating surrounding the game, overall a great day to be on campus.

I got to talk to Hammond briefly (he will go out of his way to talk to everybody) and he has some plans to improve the fans experience at Reed Green which should help to continue building the fanbase. There has already been meetings to upgrade DT's contract as well. I realize we can be easily outbid if some bigger programs come after him (I expect they will) but at least we are being proactive.

We will be hanging from the rafters when your Tigers come to town. Should be a great game.

I miss Larry. I remember the home game against them in 2010-2011, when the student section started chanting "Larry! Larry! Larry!" when he started blowing up at his team. I loved him.

Agreed. Looks like it was a great environment for a college basketball game.

Wasn't that long ago when we could conquer the place with a couple hundred fans, the band was an eight-track tape deck, and you had more students outside playing frisbee than inside for the game.

Larry Eustachy had a real winning personality 05-nono

Tyndall is a good coach and plays the public relations well. If he can get us to the tourney this year with the inexperience on our team, next year is going to be unreal.

"smoke and mirrors"? Really? C'mon on man, This coach is coaching his @ss off and these undersized kids are playing their @sses off....yeah, coming from 20 down on the road at SMU was "smoke and mirrors"...playing toe to toe on the road at Arizona only to lose by 8 was "smoke and mirrors"...I don't know what the rest of the season holds, but to call what they've done to date "smoke and mirrors" is an insult. And you're a Southern Miss "fan"? Maybe that's really smoke and mirrors.

Sooooo, what you're saying is it was like a UAB home football game?

Proud of him.

Great reply. Was thinking along those lines but couldn't come up with exactly how to word it.

D10 must like it here, his parents have already moved to Hattiesburg.

I just dont see him as the kind of guy for a big glamour program. Hoping he will stay awhile.
