Ragin Cajuns, showing up in big numbers! - MasMack - 12-22-2012 12:01 PM

That is pretty impressive, I must say. Attendance is gonna be around 45k. That means I would think they brought 35-40k. ECU may have 1,000 there, the rest neutral fans.

Compare that to the Beef OBrady bowl, where attendance was 21k, with a school within an hour drive in UCF.

RE: Ragin Cajuns, showing up in big numbers! - WeatherfordMeanGreen - 12-22-2012 01:04 PM

North Texas (8 hours from the Big Easy) once took 17,000 to a NO's Bowl and for a Tuesday night game to boot. The opponents in these NO's Bowl games rarely bring many fans unless
they are in adjacent states.

They said in pre-game about 30k from Lala. Too bad that many can't show up for home games.

1). Friday vs Sat
2). It is actually about 2.5 hour drive from UCF on a weekday
3). UCF has the attendance record #1 and #2 in the St Pete bowl. Sold out the stadium in 2009.

That being said, LA-LA did travel well.

If you want to be big time, act big time. Regardless of what day it was on or how much longer it is bc of traffic on a weekday (both poor excuses). I know UCF can do better. Anyway you spin it, it was poor.

They averaged 22,865 this season. You're being ridiculous.

Umm...not really. Again they estimated 30k fans in the stands and that # is probably more considering the attendance today is 48k. Their 22k average is nice but their stadium capacity is 31k and that's just the seats. They have a grass hill that is used for seating as well. Just facts, i like Louisiana and wouldn't mind them as an expansion candidate.

Your hate is blinding you. Who said ucf is big time? We are a tweaner. We showed 50k crowds twice and a long list of games over 40k. We brought close to 20k to St Pete in 2009.

You're being ridiculous in expecting these 30k that are pumped up for a bowl game to come to ALL the home games. If they had 45-50k ULL fans in attendance today, I'd begin to sway toward your statement. 30k for an event like today can't be extrapolated to a 30k average over a season. It CAN to a 23k avg though.

It's called two monsoon games and a Tueseday night game. Last year with good weather we averaged over 29,000 so ODU can get off y'all high horse. Back to back 9-4 seasons with two wins against nBE programs in bowls. Plus another against Tulane.

Against USM. I was there. I remember having the thought then that I wished the game was on a Saturday instead and attendance would be a lot better. Then I saw earlier this week that the game was on a Sat. this year. Smart move.

I'm not shocked that Louisiana brought nearly 50K to the bowl.

I was at the Cajuns game last year when they hosted North Texas. Not only was the stadium full, but the local NBC affiliate estimated that there were over 100,000 people tailgating outside the stadium before the game.

Who's Louisiana? You mean ULL. Congrats to the Cajuns. Glad they came in great numbers to NOLA and won.

Interestingly, when LSU plays in the Sugar Bowl, people say how great a crowd they have and don't comment that it is because they are only an hour from N.O. And, remember that our fans stay in the city and take over New Orleans for a couple of days. They don't show up for the game and drive home. We are building a juggernaut at Louisiana.
