Big East 7 set to plunder A-10 for teams - brandsxb - 12-15-2012 03:08 PM

The MAC looks like the Rock of Gibraltar compared to what is going on out there. Temple's move is now officially a mistake.

...and Boise State and San Diego State and maybe East Carolina, SMU, Houston, Memphis, UCF and Tulane.

What a mess.

Weird...who knows what will happen, I think the big question is what Uconn and Cincy does...I assume Temple would try and go where they go. But is the ACC an option for UConn? I thought they were discussed previously. Is Big 12 an option for Cincy?

Temple doesn't fit either of those imo...they may get lost in this whole thing.

Why would the B12 want any of those teams. they dont' bring enough. IMO they are holding out for FSU

Too early to call it a mistake, all depends on what the football schools do in response and who they can add.

4 of the 7 BE hoops only programs (Providence, Seton Hall, STJohns & DePaul) have 0 NCAA tourney hoops credits.

What in the hell is "0 NCAA tourney hoops credits" mean? You can't possibly be so out of touch to not recognize each of those boasting major traditions of NCAA tournament success?

NCAA tourney hoops credits are earned by making the NCAA tourney and also for advancing additional rounds over the last x number of years (I think 5 years). The credits are used to determine how much money is paid to the school and the conference.

It means they haven't even made the Dance in the last 5 yeas and basically are horrible. Tradition doesn't mean jack to an 18 year old player being recruited. He wants to know what you have done lately. and 4 of these 7 have done nothing.

4 of these 7 programs were bottom feeders in the BE an are frankly no big loss to the remaining programs, that's what it means

With the split, and the addition of Butler/Xavier, the 7 have by far the superior basketball league to the "Big East"

And there's some notion that UConn, Cincinnati would prefer to go with the 7. Problem is they'd have no place to park football.

Yeah, I'm sure none of the current Notre Dame football players listened when they talked about tradition in South Bend and I suppose none of the current Hoosier basketball players took into account all those "old" banners hanging over the Indiana court.
Obviously it's that much more amazing what Joe Novak did in light of the "what you done lately" mentality.

That's like saying an 18 year old wasn't going to go to Florida State last year because it'd been 5 years since they went to a BCS game.

These are well known programs, with a lot of history, relatively recent history at that. A half decent coach will have no problem getting talent at these schools, and even DePaul if they really do start playing in the city.

This philosophy doesn't give us much hope since the Ricardo Patton-Mark Montgomery numbers would pretty much define us as the bottom feeders in the MAC.
