Ticket Update - RitzHuskie - 12-13-2012 09:22 AM

Let's keep it going! Buy thru NIU or make a donation if you can. 5,500 sold thru the school and they are encouraging it.

12,000 tickets to go. We can still do this one way or another.

RE: Ticket Update - HuskieJohn - 12-13-2012 09:31 AM

I am buying a donated ticket this week...though I asked Eric to send me an actual ticket after the game so I can have it for a memento of the game...that I couldn't attend.

Like that idea, I may do the same.

Wait a minute.Isn't that the same number given out a few days ago as pointed out in the "NIU selling more tickets than FSU" thread? I guess we haven't sold any since then? That isn't good.

Let me know if that works because I would do it then.
They should promote this option.

Eric said that he would do it...so I don't see it being a problem.

If the tickets are for assigned seats, how would they do this? Would they just invalidate the bar code?

My guess is that they are not expecting to sell 17500 tickets...so there will be some that not used.

RE: Ticket Update - 17Huskies - 12-13-2012 11:50 AM

+11 for the $165 seats.

RE: Ticket Update - cartershaw - 12-13-2012 11:53 AM

Is it 5,500 sold or distributed.. because if the 2,000 of those are for students that number is garbage

RE: Ticket Update - clcfball11 - 12-13-2012 12:05 PM

I'll ask again: What happens to the thousands of NIU-allotted seats that inevitably don't get purchased?

If FSU is only at 4,000 and they're selling them at 50% off, that number isn't garbage. We're flying cross country to get there.. they're in driving distance.

RE: Ticket Update - DiehardHuskie - 12-13-2012 12:15 PM

Just posted this in the other thread.

Don't think for a second that people aren't watching how many tickets are sold through the school. Be prepared for more of this.

darren rovell‏@darrenrovell
% of bowl tickets sold: Michigan St 18%, Va Tech 19%, Northern Illinois 31%, Rutgers 40%, LSU 63%, Georgia 80%, Oklahoma 100%

+1. This is our shot and we've failed to step up (as I feared).

RE: Ticket Update - HuskieFan84 - 12-13-2012 12:23 PM

Failed to step up? There's a huge secondary market selling tickets at 15% of the cost. It's a very expensive flight over a holiday, and we only average 16K or so at home.

We're going cross country and we're at 5,000+ at a very high price point when the very same tickets are available for much less money on stubhub. We're doing better than the ACC school, who is selling their tickets at half off who are a 6 or 7 hour drive from the game. Even excluding the student tickets, if you take our 3,000+ full price ticket sales that's more money than FSU's half price tickets.

We have not failed to step up in any way. We simply do not have the ticket base some of these schools have, we're doing fine.

You have to be realistic here, this is not a disappointing number.

RE: Ticket Update - HUSKIEFOOTBALLFAN - 12-13-2012 12:29 PM

Students buy purchase their tickets through fees. How can you say that students attending is garbage? The tickets are paid for and the students attend.

:clap2: I applaud the students for going to this lifetime experience to support the team and give name recognition to the school. :clap2: :clap2: It betters everyone! :clap2:

And believe me, the Huskies are known in ACC country. While staying in South Carolina, I was watching the Huskies play BSU, everyone around me knew that NIU was the Huskies while they thought BSU was Boise State.

If we distribute more tickets than FSU then I do not see this as a failure. We are a blue collar University and most of our 190,000 alums haven't thought about NIU in years.

We maybe had 1500 people at the MAC and if we have 7000 at the OB I would consider that to be a good sign for the future of Huskie football. Its not like outside of another BCS bowl bid that we would ever be considered for an at large spot based on our ticket sales.

who cares if 2000 of them are students, thats actually awesome that we will have 2000 students there at the game, with more bus packages out there. I for one am glad to see so many students getting involved with this and going to the Orange Bowl!
