Remember players like Shannon Sharpe,and Jerry Rice did not play D1.
The schools that were looking at Leftwich were UTEP,Villanova,Air Force,Temple,Stephen F. Austin,Pittsburgh,and Akron.He has thrown for 3116 yards and 43 touchdowns this year.

This kid is a leader, very good passer, speedy runner but under the radar due to size. At only 5'10" or 5'11" depending on which scouting service you read, he is dismissed by many as not big enough. I watched Russell Wilson lead Wisconsin to the Rose Bowl last season and now starring in the NFL as QB for the Seattle Seahawks and he is 5'11". Here's hoping for similar results from this young man.
His team is 15-0 and is playing for the AAAA title in Pennsylvania. Not too shabby.

Grew up primarily in Denton. He's the son of former UNT OL coach Spencer Leftwich, who was at Tulsa last I heard. (EDIT: Nm, I remember he obviously went to Pitt and Zona with Todd Graham, duh)
Mack has impressed me as a great kid and leader from all I've heard about him.

Heh...if it was in the recruiting thread, I wouldn't have caught it.
On that note, it looks like a good get for UTEP. Marshall fans know of another guy named Leftwich who also didn't get a whole lot of high-level attention out of high school, but seemed to have a good enough go at it. :)

I have to be honest here. All the UTEP recruiting threads have become a bit overwhelming. First, we had a day full of Isaac Hamilton a month ago, and now this Leftwich nonsense? C'mon guys. Give it a rest already. We need more room for Ellis Johnson hate and conference expansion posts.
