THE University of Cincinnati Chest Thumping Thread - MickMack - 12-11-2012 11:26 AM

As passionate fans, we're all constantly trying to sell our University to others around town and across the country. To that end, it's helpful to be on top of positive news for the university. Please feel free to post good stories about the university, both athletic and non-athletic.

Found this on Ono's twitter feed:
http://chronicle.com/article/Top-Producers-of-US/135456/
UC Blue Ash was named as a Fulbright top producer for 2012-13. Pretty damn cool IMHO.

University of Cincinnati gives new president 10-year contract, Ono says he'll stick around

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
December 12, 2012 - 9:05 am EST

CINCINNATI — The University of Cincinnati wants to keep its new president for the long term.

Trustees on Tuesday gave Santa Ono (OH'-noh) a 10-year contract starting at $525,000 a year. The contract includes perks such as club memberships, a car and travel expenses, and also calls for bonuses and supplemental retirement plan pay. The Cincinnati Enquirer (http://cin.ci/SQN0sG ) reports the school earlier paid off the former Emory University official's mortgage on an Atlanta home.

Ono moved up from UC provost after president Gregory Williams abruptly resigned just before fall classes began, three years into the job.

The 50-year-old Ono says he intends to honor the contract that runs to 2022. The school has nearly 42,000 students.

Correction...We've got OSU on the schedule for 2014...that is until they once again get tight in the sphincter thinking about playing us and they decide to once again cancel.

I can't put the link up because I'm on my phone, but just received news of an anonymous donor securing an expenses paid trip to the Belk Bowl for 150 students with hotel, bus, and tickets paid for. I don't know about you guys but I haven't seen any other schools do something like this in a while.

I think you'll see a great UC crowd down in Charlotte. I hope the players are ready.

Hell Ono should just sell opportunities to watch every game with him. I'd love to watch a game with that guy.

Thought this was interesting- not quite UC related, but definitely a positive for the city.

Nothing against MickMack, because a lot of posters do it, but a good start would be to stop with the "THE" references. It comes off as such a "little brother" attempt to ridicule OSU.

Saw this on Ono's twitter feed. UC researchers developing breast cancer vaccine. You know. Whatevs.

Just saw this. Thank you very much, but I'll never miss an opportunity to ridicule OSU, little brother or not. 05-stirthepot
