Charlotte is averaging 5689/game, but attendance was bigger at the last game after our good start. 3 of the 4 home games were the first three of the year against pretty weak competition, so nobody came out, yet. When we got back from the tournament at 6-0 we had roughly 7900 at the ECU game. Hopefully, if we get through Davidson, we'll see that number remain pretty high.

USM has come a long ways on basketball attendance. It wasn't long ago that we averaged about 1200 a game. Winning will do that.

Impressed and encouraged by Southern Miss's attendance.

Honestly, basketball played third fiddle to football AND baseball (granted we have an outstanding baseball program and consistently rank in the top 15 nationally in terms of attendance) until 2011.

South Mississippi is just a football and baseball kind of place. The NCAA appearance and Donnie Tyndall are changing that to include basketball, in my opinion.

Didn't help that one of the games was a 9:00 pm tip and could be see nationally on NBC College Sports as well.

Wow, that's a great number for USM. Getting fans excited about basketball at any Mississippi university outside of Starkville has always been challenging. 5K+ is huge for USM.

I'll also add that Tim Floyd obviously has the El Paso fans excited and turning out for games, that's another good sized number.

And UTEP still has UNLV and Oregon at home this month.

**FIU: 889

This is what it will look like in CUSA 3.0.

Current CUSA average: 5324
CUSA 3.0 average: 4261

So a drop by over a 1000 on average (of course, the VAST majority of this can be contributed to Memphis, without whom the current average is 4373).

Come on UTSA, FIU, and FAU- gotta get those numbers up!

Changing conference should provide at least a small boost to FIU, FAU, and UTSA.

I think UAB's attendance will be fine long term with ODU and Charlotte being in the same division.

Yeah- good looking out. I was just plugging them in as close together at that point- not really paying attention. No slight intended 04-cheers

If MU beats WVU Wednesday... then expect a jump up near 7,000 a game.

If not... expect it to drop around 5,000.

Next two games for MT are UAB and Mississippi. Those should be great crowds.

RE: CUSA Basketball Attendance Rankings for Dec 2nd 2012 - stanman505 - 12-03-2012 12:51 PM

The UTEP attendence hasn't been as high as I thought it would be. Our poor performance in the Old Spice Classic kept the attendence for the NMSU game below a sellout.

How do you figure neutral site games? Marshall's upcoming game against Cincinnati in Charleston is considered a home game and tickets for it were included in bball season tickets this year. Will those attendance figures count towards our season average?

RE: CUSA Basketball Attendance Rankings for Dec 2nd 2012 - cdsniner - 12-03-2012 12:57 PM

How does a school with close to 40k undergrads average only 889 in basketball attendance?

I have no idea for the official totals- I just did what ESPN had listed as home games for the other teams- which includes neutral tournaments and greatly skews the numbers for most. FAU, UTSA, and FIU I didn't separate out for- so it could be what's dragging them down if they played in one. Charlotte's don't include the Alaska tournament, and ODU and MT numbers were already in this thread.

EDIT:
Looks like-
FIU didn't have a tournament?
UTSA's one game with listed attendance was a home game
FAU played one game marked as home at Elon- attendance for actual home games: 1305
