CMU vs Bradley - Chipdip - 11-28-2012 01:55 PM

Bradley is 4-1, with their one loss coming to South Florida by 20.

If CMU can handle Bradley at home, and possibly win handily then I may change my "no MAC wins" prediction.

My pick: Bradley by 12.

CMU lost by 17 at home. Prediction stands.

i agree, MAYBE one if lucky. i think we will have a legit shot to win the mac west. The division does not look to good.

Strongest wimp = Winning the West.

RE: CMU vs Bradley - EA3 - 11-29-2012 12:34 PM

I still think they register 2, maybe 3, wins in the MAC.

They will likely come from this group...NIU, Ball St and/or Miami.

Gap between the East isn't nearly as wide as years past though. Ohio and Akron are the top two. Beyond them, there is a whole lot of question marks in the East...no different than the West.

Last year alone the East had the best 5 teams in the conference. Not so much anymore.

But yeah, the West still has a long ways to go.

RE: CMU vs Bradley - DesertBronco - 11-29-2012 12:45 PM

So Ohio and Akron are money. That's two more than the West has at all. Like 40% more.

I get that.

Last year it was Ohio, Akron, Buffalo, Kent and BGSU who were all "money" in compared to the West.

Hence the gap has narrowed. Hopefully that trend will continue in years to come.

They had a center in Zach Saylor. Granted he's not very good, but he did give them someone in the middle. As of yesterday he's got a knee issue that could keep him out for a long time. Once Nader returns NIU will improve.

The only thing keeping them marginally competitive is that people don't know what to expect from them. As film and scouting reports accumulate Keno & Co. will find it hard to execute their game plan. They want to race it down court and jack up threes. Problem #1, you have to get a rebound to do that. When they take it out of the basket, teams will press the ball, and force them into sets. "Good coaches" will throw extended zones at them............unfortunately we won't 03-hissyfit

RE: CMU vs Bradley - EA3 - 11-29-2012 12:58 PM

Those 5 teams went a combined 27-3 against the West.

Ohio lost to Toledo and EMU
BGSU lost to EMU

I would be shocked, and really really depressed, if the same disparity happened this year.

(Miami went 3-3 against the West last year)

I would concede that it is very likely that Akron and Ohio go 12-0 against the West. The remaining 24 games should be closer to .500 IMO. Still favoring the East....I'd go with 13-11

I've seen more talented MAC teams that play with less energy win games. Case in point was Toledo 2 years ago, and NIU last year. Actually, Toledo might have been worse 2 years ago...and there only conference win was against us.

CMU will catch 2-3 teams napping and they will shoot the lights out.

RE: CMU vs Bradley - DesertBronco - 11-29-2012 01:02 PM

At CMU they like to make predictions and act like they're fact, proving their point. Here? Not so much. 05-nono

RE: CMU vs Bradley - Chipdip - 11-29-2012 01:12 PM

This is not a bold prediction. This team would finish middle of the pack in the GLIAC and would lose to both Calvin and Hope in the MIAA.

RE: CMU vs Bradley - DesertBronco - 11-29-2012 02:02 PM

No not your CMU one, the East vs West prediction supporting his argment that the East isn't as good. That support of your theory with a prediction is so.....northern lower.

RE: CMU vs Bradley - conaire - 11-29-2012 02:36 PM

The MAC West in basketball would have a hard time convincing anyone that they deserve a play in ( fight for 16 seed against the MEAC) game in Dayton to start the Tourney off, if they stood alone. Its a mid tier D2 league at best, that would not get an invite in recent years to that tourney. The East obviously better.

I never supported that. There are 4 teams in the East that would run away with the West.

UGH, that was hypothetical, meaning, supporting your theory with a prediction. Not YOUR theory.

Oh, I get it. You were just looking for something to argue about. Just say so next time. 04-cheers

That's a given!

This is a gigantic exaggeration. Maybe it was supposed to be?
