Yep. It was Stans and it was chaos in there but he could tell you the price of every book.

What should we expect now that the Master Plan is approved? Will some sort of project/construction timeline come out from ODU?

For each project in the plan funding, be it state or private, has to be secured prior to architectural plans etc. I'm sure there are strategies in place for the various projects, and a list prioritizing them. This is a twenty year plan and some of these will happen well before others.

My guess at some highest priority needs:

Basketball practice facility
Replacement for Powhatan dorms
Parking structures
Football stadium
Performing arts center
Replacement of Webb Center

RE: ODU Master Plan - nakas12 - 12-19-2013 05:56 PM

The BB practice facility is happening in 2016. The new dorms to replace Powhatan and the Webb are around that same year or the next year.
I typed in new Webb University Center on google and apparently the state approved it for construction along with the new dorms.

My timeline:

New education building
New dining hall
New dorms
Parking garage
New Webb and Stadium
New Chemistry building
New Bio building
New Health Sciences
etc..

Same. Although most of my books were bought at the store b 711.

Anyone remember buying books from the old guy who had a shop on Colley Avenue sort of near O'Sullivans? You'd walk in and there would be books stacked in piles everywhere! Not sure how he knew what book was where but his prices were cheap!

I remember that place - stacks of books everywhere, you hoped you didn't run into someone coming the other way down the aisles it was so tight!

Every school has a growth plan like that. It will likely be 20 years before every construction project on that list is complete. And it will probably change in 8 or 9 years. The company I work for has been chasing jobs on GMU's master plan for the past 6 or 7 years.

http://facilities.gmu.edu/CampusPlanning/MasterPlans/ - issued in 2002

With the configuration of ODU's campus, we probably can't sustain more than 2 or 3 projects at a time due to the disruption, not to mention funding issues, and most projects will run 18 months to 2 years from the time they fence off the area to the time they turn the keys over to the school.

I think there is a lot of stuff ODU had planned for a long time, but put it on hold, when they decided to do a master plan.
Has anyone noticed that many of the new buildings or renovations all have the same or similar type of architecture? Curved glass is in the front of all of them.
The rec center, systems research, dragas hall, student success center, engineering sciences, and new art building have this. I hope the new Webb Center is similar then.

I remember Harnage saying something about wanting the building architecture to be similar to other buildings.

hmm i remember seeing something like a mobile shower/locker room may be its one of us who suggested that. Anyways i think visitor locker rooms are a mandatory upgrade we can't bypass and i am hoping we will see something soon.

RE: ODU Master Plan - lovinodu - 02-12-2014 12:10 AM

There is no construction going on and I haven't seen any plans shown anywhere for foreman field.

The bid opening dare for thus project was 1/15. Construcrion is slated to be completed this summer. It is not a massive project and it does appear to be on schedule. I don't believe there's any cause for concern.

Thanks PB. I am actually more concerned with the new stadium don't know when we'll get to see the actual architectural plan of the new stadium but eagerly waiting for it. 04-cheers

The visiting team locker room and a video instant replay area will be completed by the end of this summer as per CUSA rules. I would imagine photos will be release soon.

There's a mock up of the visiting locker room build out somewhere in this thread. It'll be located next to the brick wall close to the bleachers by the Bluestone entrance. I don't think they had pictures of the replay area, but I'd be interested to see where it's added.
