UConn fans will hate me for saying its over with 18 game minutes left. Certainly there is enough time to theoretically come back, but unless UConn starts turning it over the Cuse is done.
Unless the score drastically changes, UConn is showing that they are pretty good and not weak simply because they beat up scrubs. It's tough to gage the Huskies before tonight because to be honest, almost any I-A in the nation could go 3-1 in UConn's first 4. I am most impressed with the UConn offense. (Sidenote- HA, as I write this Cuse just turned it over once again at their own 40).
I say I am most impressed with the O b/c Syracuse was top 40 in the nation in scoring defense against a tough schedule. Also UConn lost the starting QB and yet have come alive to start racking up points.
As for UConn D, I give much credit but am still unsure slightly about just HOW good the defense is. Yes, they are good. To pitch a conference game shutout for nearly 3 quarters shows the D is good. However, while trying to avoid sounding sour grapes, we'll know a little more once UConn plays a real offense! I mean, their opponent's offensive rank are 117th, I-AA, 95th, 112th, and 96th. Basically, the UConn D is Top 5 ranked but I don't think they are really that good. They do seem good enough to certainly make UConn a formidable opponent.
As for Syracuse, I won't dwell too long on the negative but dam*, I thought it was partly just the teams you had played. Maybe not for the most part. They just don't look good at all. Condolences to Gunner, this is a very ugly 24 hour period for you!
Edit: UConn, you have one of the better backup QB's in the country from what I have seen! I do agree with the announcers however that Edsall should tell him to tone down the full bore running straight into defensive players on run outs. Yes, that is his style but the game is in the bag right now.

Cuse is really bad. The season is pretty much over. How do you come back from 1-4 with games at Louisville, ND and against USF? This was supposed to be the turning point for the Cuse season.

i'm impressed with uconn, very well coached, great fan support, and caully reminds me of warrick dunn, small jitterbug type who isn't afraid of contact. looking forward to the uconn/usf game. syracuse is obviously going through some growing pains on offense, losing to virginia was a huge setback for the season. i thought they utilized the tight ends very well during that game what happened?

I would put him as one of the top RBs in the nation. Larry Taylor is awesome too. Too bad Larry did not get a chance to showcase his skill too much because a lof of the kicks are shallow and the field is very wet.
UCONN/USF game should be a good one. Expect a packed house. It was real nasty weather tonight and we had a pack house. The RENT will be ready for the Bulls in NOV.

DJ Hernandez is a good backup QB, MAD running skills as we saw last night but his passing ability is a question. I worry that he's gonna take a serious beating if we become just a running team.
With Bonislawski out for the year most likely, we're a little thin on QBs after DJ. :frown:
