41-14!?!?!?!?!?

Grrrrrr...........

RE: Ohio State vs Central Florida - atsKnight - 09-08-2012 11:26 AM

41-14 doesn't seem off at this point. 7-0 Buckeyes and we can't move the chains. Or tackle.

17-10 halftime. How are we going to score 4 points...two safeties? That would be strange if OSU scores 41. We'd have to do that against the back-ups. 03-lmfao

I watched this game and it's amazing how quickly UCF let it slip away. 10-10 inside a minute before half and they let Miller scramble for a big gain on 3rd and 16. 6 minutes of football later it was 31-10. They stop that 3rd and long and go into half either tied or down 13-10 and who knows if the outcome could have been different. UCF lost all momentum after that one play/conversion and never seriously threatened again. I've seen a lot of UCF football over the years and unfortunately this has become their cookie-cutter recipe for loss against larger programs. Just once I'd love to seem them do what Louisiana-Monroe did today to Arkansas.

Another UCF fan said it best, we matched up well with Ohio State at every position, except QB. That ended up being quite the difference-maker as Bortles was clearly rattled and Miller played like the incredible athlete that he is. I was surprised how off Bortles was considering that our O-line did a great job against a highly-touted Buckeye D-line and he saw very little pressure all game. I'm hoping he just needs more experience and then he'll be ready to play football against the big boys and not the Akrons of the world.

Moral victory (Registered trademark of UCF): OSU had no way to beat us outside of repeatedly sacrificing their star QB. Almost a Pyrrhic victory for them considering how much damage they let him take in only the second game of the season.

One thing to remember atsKnight, he was playing in the 'Shoe. There is nothing that can really prepare someone to play in front of 100k+ people, except playing in front of 100k+ people. Is that enough to give him a pass? Not really, but it does make it more understandable.

Yeah, I'm hopeful about Bortles. I think if we played them again next week it would be a different experience for him, but he still needs to gain experience in a number of situations. I think its also important to keep in mind how different his role is this year. Last year, he was able to be a change of pace guy and was asked to take some risks and spark the offense when JG was struggling. Now, opponents are game-planning around his style and preferences and the responsibility for the offense is squarely on his shoulders. He will be fine, but we need to remember he's still a soph.

The problem with Bortles is going to be O'Leary's short leash. Coach O has proven during his tenure at UCF that he will not shy away from yanking his QB or RB when they are not playing well. I would not be surprised one bit if Gabbert gets playing time this season the moment Bortles fails to quit throwing untimely picks.

I had picked This game as an upset special and 9-3 still sounds good to me. UCF could not stop the ground game, but OSU's secondary surprised me and did a good job. Congrats to OSU.

I doubt it. Bortles is the clear-cut #1. For once there is no QB controversy.

Gabbert looked shaky in his mop-up duty vs Akron.

Between Bortles, Godfrey, and Calabrese, we finally have the tools to have a truly potent offense... and it's not the hurry up air raid like the rest of the nation!

I think... Gabbert better be learning Calabrese's role on the field (i.e. Wild Knight / Placeholder) because if Bortles tweaks the few (but serious) mistakes he is making on the field, he will be a 3 year starter, something UCF hasn't had... in a long time. (Greco, Israel, Calabrese, Hodges...)
