That's hopefully the future plan. Along with adding more suites at the top of the grandstand on the home side. Basically the entire top row will be press box/suite area. I have seen renderings and plans of what it looks like and I like it. Plus that means even more shade for the reserved seating on the home side where I sit on a sunny day.

Stadiums with people in them need expansion...but you wouldn't know anything about that. How is the mesh covering on the back of your new scoreboard working out? Nothing screams classy like a mesh covering on valuable electronics.

Cajun fans and others will finally get a real view of what's planned for Cajun field in a couple of months when the Master Plan for Facilities is made public. Coach Hud talked briefly about it on the interview with Tim Brando. He's pumped, and we will be too.

We don't know what the final plans will look like yet. Talk has been that we will bowl the stadium, tear down the current upper deck and press box, build a press box and suites the length of the field 2-3 levels high, and build an upper deck on the other side, with seating around 52,000. Why? Because we are building for the future. We will not build in stages. We will average 35,000 this year and that will continue to grow. Our largest crowd was 42,000 and we turned a couple of thousand away because we couldn't accomodate them. We have hosted BCS teams like Alabama, Texas A&M, Kansas State, and OK State. As we continue to win and grow our program, with a larger stadium, we will get more of these teams to visit and our attendance will grow which will result in greater revenue. You will not believe how the city has embraced UL football after just one year under Coach Hud. Our Master Plan for athletics which will include the stadium renovations will be released in October. And, we are completing almost $200M in new construction on campus which needed to come before our athletic improvements. Now, everything at UL is coming together.

RE: Cajun field - CajunAmos - 08-09-2012 04:57 PM

At one time the thought was a press box and suites as part of a building complex similar to what I understand Troy to have. It building was supposed to run the complete length of the stadium and contain a number of the athletic support facilities.

There will be some very disappointed folks when the grass end zones are replaced with seating---It is kind of a Cajun cult area with families and kids with blankets and room for the kids to have fun before it is filled up!!!! There are many fans that rather stand up around the back of the lower stands and end zone rather than sitting in their ticketed seats!!!!

RE: Cajun field - geauxcajuns - 08-09-2012 06:52 PM

The master plan is to be revealed for the stAte game.
