I know everyone here knows about this commit but I thought the article was a good read. Especially the part about Bumfield sharing with him about the program being on the upswing. Also I love the suggestion/hinted, EMU looking to move from a running focused offense toward a more Pro-style passing focused offense. At least this is how I read it.

Three points:
1). Offenses (and defenses) are built around the talent-on-hand. If the QB is more of a runner than thrower that will influence the offense accordingly. If next year's starting QB is more of a thrower than a runner...
2). He knows Brumfield. Very smart move. Talk to someone on the inside and use that info to help make a decision. This should help us with the Romulus players in hoops. Ray Lee should be able to give them the scoop about EMU. If any Romulus players are choosing between like programs (e.g., EMU, CMU, WMU, UT, BG, UDM. Oakland, Cleve State, etc.) than they would be well advised to consider EMU as a 'known quantity' and the others as 'less known'). and, of course, camps are like high school dances in the '50s. A chance to meet and 'feel each other out'. Oops, I can't believe I said that.
P.S. I don't know what kids did in the '50s...3). We need to recruit MI more successfully as it leads to more of what I discussed in #2 above. We want kids to say, "I really like the EMU program. I'd give them a good look". That should carry a lot of weight with teammates and others the player might know from camps, etc.

'79, I don't think Banks is an EMU verbal. Sounds like EMU just offered.

No problem, great job reporting this. Caught me by surpise on this ine.. he will be a good pickup.. I am thinking he may be looked at as a DB/safety also.. I am hopeful the Chicago kids (Scott. Reeds, Rusell and Cotton) are working on his mind to come here..

This is one of those unusual recruiting stories where it really doesn't matter what the recruiting services say.
He apparently has been on campus with other Simeon kids and has two former teammates here, i.e., Scott and Reed, so we should be in a far better position than other MAC schools for his recruitment.

I think it's safe now to believe we have a strong foot print in the Chicagoland area.. The passed two years has been good to EMU...
