Hey Troy fans - Dracorex - 06-25-2012 01:48 PM

This was just announced:

Troy @UAB will be the 11:00 (morning) game. With the away side in the sun. Legion Field will hold two 1aa games that weekend too.

Have fun, although, you guys might be able to move with the shadow of the scoreboard.

I'll just go on ahead and include a "there is room on the other side of the stadium with the 7 UAB fans," because somewhere along the lines you guys will try and talk attendance smack.

Miles vs. UNA will be Sunday night
Tuskegee and AL A&M will be Saturday night at 6.

p.s. spread it to GTT if you'd like.

Good ol' UAB hospitality.

RE: Hey Troy fans - TrojanNation - 06-25-2012 02:16 PM

What a joke. It tells you what the community thinks of your football program when an FBS game is played at 11:00 while an FCS game is that night. Pathetic. If I was McGee I would go ahead and pack up my bags and head back to Arkansas.

blame the city... Oh and P.S. Troy is in charge of bringing handheld cameras for the goal lines this time.

RE: Hey Troy fans - Burn the Horse - 06-25-2012 02:18 PM

Why is that? UAB still cant afford enough cameras for their games? Pretty sad.

Is that something yall would have to request funding for from big brother in Tuscaloosa?

P.S. the city is in charge of all updates and upgrades to Legion Field, all cameras, grass, facilities and parking fees are done by the City's Park & Rec board. UAB has nothing to do with any of that. All we get is ticket sales.

I was joking about the countless Trojans I know that complain about that call. I'm sorry that I forgot the sarcasm font.

Threads like this just make me want to get out of Ladd more.

Ladd is still better than Legion Field. That place is a DUMP.

I know in is early but the heat of the day is really a couple hours later to 3 pm......then it bakes directly at least 1100 to 1 should bake us all.....any way should be hot but safer given the suburbian type atmosphere....can get in and out before most have awakened........hate that can not have a night game....but it might just be ok.

Maybe but USA still isn't in charge of it. I just don't like the idea of being in a stadium you can't control.

Try and talk attendance smack?

UAB's attendance flat out sucks, even after their "creative" counting methods.

Not smack, just true statements.

believe us we're trying to get out of that dump. 1 step at a time though.

Troy fans should be glad Scrushy built their's before he got into trouble.

You ain't lying bro.
Especially after the little mini scandal with the Ladd management group.

you were saying???? all 7 of those are higher than either MTSU or TROY can hold in their respective stadiums.

Notice how none of those are in the last 6 years... See That's what happens when Neil Callaway is your head coach.

.... whats your point?

He's just jealous we have our own on-campus stadium and is trying to hate on ours to make himself feel better.

UAB will never have what we have as long as Alabama has control of them. They will have to get out from under big brother if they want to suceed. The Bama BOT wouldnt even discuss the UAB stadium proposal when took it to them.

Exactly why I want the city to have ZERO to do with our OCS when we finally get rolling on that. I don't want a dime from them. We can have our own bond issue without them.

As for Ladd, yeah, I'm kind of embarrassed by it, and the area that it's located in. Always thought it to be supremely stupid that parking is so limited, and that away fans either have to take a bus, or park in someone's not so nice front yard.

Our OCS can't come soon enough. Maybe we should start a crowdfunding campaign.

And how many of those fans were from USM, State, TCU, Troy, VT, and Kansas? We bring around 20k for Sun Belt games, and that's without the boost of away team fans (usually less than 1k for the average SBC game). Actually FYI MT's game with GT this past year had 30,502 - under capacity by around 1,500 or so (Floyd Stadium holds around 32,000 and more with standing room I think)... But whatever, I know what you're getting at. Point is UAB attendance has sucked... and whatever big crowds you have had haven't been particularly one-sided. Hopefully better play will get you more fans, but don't count your chickens before they're hatched.

I want an OCS too, and soon, but I'm focused on the positive. We have football at South Alabama! And it's not all that bad at Ladd.

Want parking? It's free in good Midtown neighborhoods, a mere 10-minute walk. Worried about walking? I've been doing it since the Jags started playing in 2009. Everyone you talk to, Jags fan or neighborhood resident, is universally nice. There are tons of people around, and crowds are the enemy of crime.

We are light years ahead of UAB's stadium situation, we are not beholden to Tuscaloosa, and did I mention we have real, honest-to-goodness D1 football?

Plus, beer at Ladd is just $3.

The city won't have any more part in our OCS than they do in the Mitchell Center. It's just not an issue on campus. But start saving your pennies, because fans will be asked to contribute.

Go Jags!
