UCF 5, Stetson 4 (13 innings) . . . what a game that was - Golden Jedi Knight - 05-03-2012 04:40 AM

Wow . . . Stetson head coach Pete Dunn and UCF head coach Terry Rooney had a shouting match with each other in the 9th inning. The jawing started when Travis Shreve slid into home plate for UCF. It was ruled that Shreve reached around Stetson catcher Sam Kimmel's leg with his left arm to touch home before Kimmel could tag him out, but Dunn saw it differently. Dunn argued with home plate umpire Randy Harvey about the call and also had a few words for Terry Rooney, who fired some shots of his own right back. After Dunn continued arguing with Harvey, Harvey ejected Dunn from the game. The Orlando Sentinel reported that Dunn will be suspended for Friday's game against USC Upstate.

The winning run for UCF was scored when Ronnie Richardson sent a solo home run to left field in the 13th inning.

If this wasn't a great college baseball rivalry game, I don't know what is. I would love to see these two schools start having weekend series again, but who knows if that will ever happen.

Dunn will not be suspended Friday. He will be suspended for his next NON Conference game. Sentinel was wrong on that one.

Sounds like a crime to not have a weekend series.

So he'll be suspended for the May 8th game against Florida State in Deland? That sucks.

ASun rules state that if you are tossed in a non-con game, you sit out a non-con game. It's the same for a conference game.

Agree, but it works out well for both teams to have a good non-conf midweek game. Otherwise, both teams would end up playing much weaker teams midweek.

Stetson beats #1 FSU 6-5 tonight. Stetson and FGCU have both beaten the Noles this year plus UNF beat the Gators a few weeks ago and almost beat them in Gainesville last night.

It's about time Stetson got a win against the big boys.
