Football Expectations - Tiguar - 03-14-2012 03:50 PM

Since it's football off-season.. how about an off season thread that's not about re-alignment?

What kind of record will you be happy with from your team? What would you consider a "great" year? Disappointing?

For USA, I would be content with winning at least one FBS game and being somewhat competitive in the rest. Great would be anything over that and disappointing would be losing every game. I think we might be able to get one upset this year if we catch a team resting on their laurels.

I expect at least seven wins. Lot back on offense but defense has a bunch of holes to fill. Six home games.

The Cajuns and ASU have similar squads coming back. I expect 7 wins or more for the Cajuns as well.

It's Spring Football time. FIU goes 9-3 next year. Go F I U!

MT has nowhere to go but up after last season's disaster. I think our fanbase is cautiously optimistic with the hiring of Nix and more experience on defense. The shift to a more balanced spread attack should help us capitalize on our ridiculous wealth of talent at RB. I think I read somewhere that we had 45 or so possessions inside the 30 that came away with no points last season. Folks, that's why we were 2-10. Cut that in half and we're probably bowling. That and our guys mailed it in after our 7th loss. Our schedule is light up front with McNeese St, FAU, and Memphis, so we have a chance to gain some real confidence heading into the bulk of conference play.

I'll go with 5-7. I could see us doing a little better than advertised based on the reasons listed above. It doesn't hurt that we miss a game with the Cajuns and pick up USA either. I won't be surprised with 7 wins as crazy as it may sound to some people.

4-8 for the Jaguars and would not surprise me if they go 5-7.

RE: Football Expectations - Usajags - 03-14-2012 04:49 PM

Just beat Troy and all is good. 05-stirthepot

By the way guys, South is playing 13 games this season. I'm afraid I may have to say 3-10, 4-9 if we surprise someone. Anything more then that for us should be considered a complete success for the season.

The 2013 season I want to be bowl eligible. 04-cheers

7 wins is what I expect and what I will be happy with for this year. Our defense will have to get up to speed fast.

RE: Football Expectations - Glassonion - 03-14-2012 05:36 PM

Victory.

RE: Football Expectations - MeanGreenFan123 - 03-14-2012 05:37 PM

I expect 7 wins, would be very pleased with 8, would be okay with 6.

RE: Football Expectations - Paul of Troy - 03-14-2012 05:45 PM

At least 12 wins...possibly 15 or 16 if we are half-way decent.

RE: Football Expectations - tyler90wm - 03-14-2012 05:51 PM

I think 5 or 6 wins would be a reasonable expectation for MT.

I think you may have misunderstood what sport we are talking about.

RE: Football Expectations - Ole Blue - 03-14-2012 06:07 PM

I expect we'll win between 3 and 5 games this next year. My hope is that we'll win between 5 and 8. My dream is that we'll win 8 to 10. I hope we have a good turnaround. Need a strong season to get folks coming back to all the games and get SBC football on the map...

RE: Football Expectations - Side Show Joe - 03-14-2012 07:00 PM

McCarney says our goal is to go bowling next season, and I believe he will make that happen. I say we win 7. We have Texas Southern at home.

RE: Football Expectations - fiuphan - 03-14-2012 07:54 PM

I think FIU will go 10-2 best case and 8-4 Worst case!

RE: Football Expectations - ntmeangreen11 - 03-14-2012 08:08 PM

I really haven't put much research in this but here goes with minimum and max wins for each team. Huge gap in Troy's I know, but I don't really know what to expect from them, I think the rest of these are spot on though.

UNT: 4-8 wins
ASU: 6-11 wins
Troy: 3-10 wins
USA: 1-4 wins
ULL: 6-9 wins
WKU: 5-8 wins
MT: 2-5 wins
FAU: 1-5 wins
FIU: 7-11 wins
ULM: 1-6 wins

RE: Football Expectations - Usajags - 03-14-2012 08:11 PM

So you got us with a minimum of 3 bowl eligible teams. That's not horrible, should be and hopefully will be better. Would like to get the Little Rock Bowl up and affiliated. Would love a bowl tie in with the SEC now that they will have 14.

RE: Football Expectations - chiefsfan - 03-14-2012 08:17 PM

7 is my satisfaction number with ASU. 8 would make me a very happy person. 9 or above and Ill be the one praying Malzahn doesnt take another job.

Nope, just a sad attempt at humor apparently...
