ACC teams to the Big 12??? - EERSFAN - 02-22-2012 10:26 AM

I know no one here believes it or wants to believe it, but could it be happening?

@GSwaim I was told this morning two ACC teams likely to jump to Big 12. I hope you are hearing the same.

at this point, I'll believe it when I see it.

Let me know when McMurphy or Thamel is reporting this.

True. Although those guys are primarily tied into the Big East offices, that's why they were able to break so much of conference realignment as it pertained to BE teams coming and going. But valid point nonetheless.

ha

RE: ACC teams to the Big 12??? - stever20 - 02-22-2012 10:39 AM

heck, I'd believe it a lot more if Chip Brown reported it.

RE: ACC teams to the Big 12??? - TyBull - 02-22-2012 10:40 AM

I could see any B.E. teams running to the Big 12 conference

I DO NOT see any way an ACC leaves to the LONGHORN conference.
The has much more stability..... The B.E. does not....

RE: ACC teams to the Big 12??? - stever20 - 02-22-2012 10:44 AM

I could see ACC teams leaving- for the money. ACC is stuck with a BAD contract. That just is what it is. It's right now behind the SEC and Pac 12- and Big 12 once they expand will be ahead of them.

The ACC won't really lose any teams--they have the clout in their own conference to keep people.

Um.....we don't believe it because the ONLY people bringing this up are WVU posters who by now realize they are truly on an island in the B12 - with their closest conference foe over 900 miles away. Come back to us with serious information, not rumblings from WVU bloggers or completely unsubstantiated tweets which have proven time and time again to be wrong.

I just don't see it happening. The tv money can't make that much difference when you have 20m buyout, less academic prestige. The acc fan bases are strong, the schools are in good shape.

Perhaps they are talking to the Big 12, but not actually talking to the Big 12. ::wink::

BC fan talking about being on an island? Things that make you go hmmmmm. I think most would take the geography issues of the Big 12 over the proximity of the Big East given the other benefits.

Swaim = clueless

RE: ACC teams to the Big 12??? - bluesox - 02-22-2012 11:39 AM

Hard to believe but i'll play along. I think i'd jump to 14 with:

texas, texas tech, baylor, tcu, tulane, fsu, clemson

ou, ok state, ku, ksu, isu, wvu, lville

possible jump to 16 with nd/byu football only combo and maybe miami. More likely fsu and clemson are shopping themselves to the sec. I think one of those two going to the sec with ecu or wvu might work better than both going to the sec as a pair. I like g. tech to the sec if they bring in an overlap school from the acc. Good academic standing and in big city. I don't hold grudges forever so the yellow jackets should be welcomed back to the sec.

Yup...you guys are on an island. BC's closest conference foe is about 430 miles from Boston, an easy drive. WVU's closest foe is over 900 miles away.

When BC left for the ACC, one of its loudest critics were WVU fans, as they claimed BC was now isolated from local foes and were slimeballs for successfully litigating that only the 12 month waiting period (not the 27 month period) applied to their exit from the BE, which they honored.

Now, almost eight years later, the only thing that turned out to be accurate was the hypocrisy of many WVU posters on both counts.

Care to disagree?

Did...did we just start a thread over a Swaim tweet AND a The Dude tweet? I'm LOLZing.

430 or so miles versus 900 miles is apples to oranges. However, with Cuse and Pitt coming on board. Syracuse cuts the closest distance down to about 310 miles. If they ever added Rutgers to the ACC it cuts down to about 240 miles. If UConn gets added it becomes under 100 miles.
