Based on what I have seen over the years (with Floyd, Haskins, and others in between), it's a matter of contrasting styles.
A slow-down/ugly game knocks fast-paced teams and offenses off their rythm. This is why UTEP's losses are close to those types of teams. Haskins always said "we hang around, hang around, hang around, and offer ourselves a chance to get the win in the last minutes".
I don't think its that Josh Pastner is less of a coach than Floyd.... It's simply that some styles are are better suited to match-up against others.
Even if UTEP is a horrible team- as some Memphis fans have said; their style creates the opportunity for a win.

Are you pointing towards me? As a USM fan, how could you not have been pulling for UTEP? Having said that, my only posts involved calling out over zealous MEM posters and congratulating UTEP. If your going call someone out you should be sure your post follows the post in question or call them out by name.
BTW, this is the CUSA board, not the Memphis.org board. I won't go to a home board and call them out. That board or any other sole team board is a circle jeerk fest and is expected. This is the beauty of this board as it involves all fans and gives a spectrum of opinion...is my favorite board because of this.

Fresno State is a CSU system school, no rocket scientists there but a good business school for the common man (or woman), and some really good ag and general ed type degrees.....who tufck cares? I didn't even go to college. Wasn't rich enough too and not poor enough to get enough govt support so whoopty freakin dooooooo! i still hate the big east and your going to be a part of it.

There are few times I just know the Miners are going to do it, I felt it a few years back with Tofi and the UAB game. I also felt it against Houston in football when they were #12. Memphis has athletes, but UTEP has a fine coach. The coach won, I thought the game was a little one sided on the foul calls. Black definitely is a great player, Memphis should do some damage in the tourney.

Black could/can be a monster inside...this is why I was confused how little he was utilized against us at the Yurt...think it was something like 4 pts with 2 coming from the line. At some point, Memphis has to look at Pastner as a question mark...too much history to le t that melt away (just for emphasis not meant to slam)
