The question is will they offer FB Only? And if they do is it worth the 2 million dollar buyout to Temple...

You guys could not get Temple all in when you had Memphis some years back.

I'm not so sure we'd be interested if it was football only. Who knows though.

So then why would Temple take their hoops leave the A10 which went from much better than CUSA to CurbStomping CUSA?

Temple was, is, and will always be a hoops program first.

Like I said, I doubt we'd be interested in football only, and they're probably not interested in an all sports invite. However, it looks like C-USA is gaging interest at this point. No harm in that.

CUSA is like a senior desperate to find a date to the prom.

Anybody who suggests that Temple would consider an all-sport membership to CUSA is plain ignorant. It wasn't happening when Memphis was part of the conference and it certainly isn't happening now.

To leave the MAC for CUSA Temple would have to do the following:

1) Pay a 2.5 million dollar buyout to the MAC
2) Risk its fragile football recovery for a few years in CUSA.
3) Pay a 10 million dollar buyout fee to CUSA in 2015.

There is no value for Temple to make such a short term move. They would be much better hanging in the MAC for a few more years to try and build up a Boise State level program. CUSA will ALWAYS be there for Temple if they want it.

Nope. Ask anyone, I'm annoyingly persistent and arrogant pointing out when I'm right, and you prove my point about Marshall "University". So carry on our little inbred hillbilly visitor.

So, who is inquiring...C-USA?, or the Alliance? (if it still exists). The answer from Temple could conceivably be different depending on the suitor. Obviously, what's left of C-USA (and no Memphis) would have zero interest for Temple if for all sports. The new C-USA is a one bid NCAA league whereas the A10 averages 2 or 3. If it's a football only offer, I would still be very surprised if Temple was interested, but they might at least consider it.

And would Temple consider an all sports post the formation of the "Alliance". Again, I don't really see the fit with most of the better b-ball programs (UCF, Memphis, San Diego State, etc.) all gone and zero for natural rivalries, esp in hoops..

RE: C-USA has contacted Temple. - TUJim - 02-08-2012 04:47 PM

Don't think Temple would consider an all sports for either scenario. As you said A10 is better in basketball then either. I think our administration is either for the status quo MAC football, A10 for everything else or waiting for a Big East hand out.

As for C-USA / Alliance football only, I would say that the one thing that makes that attractive is the current bowl tie ins versus the MACs, but the question is how long will they stay in place. I don't see the Big East happening and would be happy for Temple to focus on being top in the MAC. Besides who knows what the football landscape will be in 3 years, I think it will come down to the SEC, Big 10, Big 12 and Pac12 calling all the shots.

Right, so that's why I don't see them as part of an Alliance.
