Very OT: Superbowl commercials - NIU007 - 02-06-2012 11:31 AM

Since there isn't much going on, just wondering people's responses to the latest crop of Superbowl commercials. I thought they were the lamest I've ever seen, at least as far as being funny. The first one, with the cheetah chasing after that guy, was the only funny one. But I have a different sense of humor than most, to say the least.

The cheetah one was decent and the M&M brown one I also thought was good.

Coke polar bears were very weak and even my wife thought is was lame (she used to collect all things that had the Coke bears).

The Chevy Sonic commercial had too many different things going on and if they would have split it up into 3 different ones I think it would have been better. I saw just the music one this morning on the news and it was entertaining. The bungee jump and flip stunt just made me think that they wasted money.

The most hyped commercial was the Matthew Broderic one that was slightly amusing but I though it was a fairly big let down.

The Acura Jerry Seinfeld one was good until Leno showed up.

The Pepsi one with Elton John as king of some fairy Pepsi land kept my interest but I though it was a let down as well.

I really wasn't paying too much attention but caught that one. I thought it was pretty good. I also like the car it was for. :) A guy at work has a non-turbo version and it looks nice(though, it is one of those cars that some like and some don't).

the dog race one with the little shoes on was funny.
the camaro for the kids graduation was funny.

Bud Lite used to have such great commercials...you could always count on them for a laugh. This year they were just bad.

I liked the dog bribing the guy with Doritos not to tell what happened to the missing cat.

The squealing Geico pig can go away anytime.

Star Wars, hands down was the best.

Yea, the one with the dog and Doritos was kind of clever. I'm very sick of the Geico pig as well. The polar bear commercials were bad. They need to just hang it up if that's the best they can do with the coke polar bears.

Agree 100% - get rid of the Coke bears. Way back when they first used them it was kind of "cute"...but come on can't Coke afford to hire some better advertising people? Looks to me like they need to hire a new agency with some new ideas.

One pleasant surprise was that I didn't have to distract my son from watching more than two or three.

Also - The Chevy truck one at the beginning with the whole 2012 end of the world theme was funny-ish.

So WTF is up with the Battleship movie looking 99% like Transformers?

Avengers looks like it is going to be a cluster ****....but I look forward to renting it.

Coming from a guy that was (and still is) geek enough to get out of school early to see Episode I on opening day... 03-yawn

Don't forget the NFL draft when we find out which Huskies will be selected.

The Twinkies made the commercial hilarious for me
