EMU gets MSU to play at their place today!!?? - wmubasketballsupporter - 11-27-2011 08:21 AM

Sure would be nice to land a home game like this. I am sure Sparty fans will out number the EMU faithful so MSU can say they won a road game but really it will be like a home game. Kind of like what Illinois had with us last year.

I've posted this before, but - from early '60s to mid-'80s we played MSU almost every year, even got 'em in Kalamazoo a handful of times.

But that was when we had 9800-seat Fieldhouse (similar in seating capacity to EMU).

Now I doubt Izzo wants to bring his Final Four program into a 5200-seat "arena."

I believe they didn't get a football game at home with MSU

YES they did

MSU Football is in the future at MAC schools
Quote:The Spartans will host Central Michigan in 2011, '15 and '18 and will make their first appearance in Mount Pleasant in '12.

• MSU takes on Western Michigan in Spartan Stadium in '13, '17 and '19 and visits Waldo Stadium in '15. Michigan State's only other games in Kalamazoo were against Kalamazoo College in 1898, 1901 and 1905.

• Eastern Michigan will be on MSU's home schedule in '12, '14 and '16, and the Spartans will play at Rynearson Stadium in '18 or '20. Michigan State also has agreed to play EMU in a basketball series as part of this arrangement.

Spartans' 10-year football pact with Michigan MAC teams aimed at boosting state's economy

They better bring in a structural engineer to make sure Rynearson won't collapse under the weight of a full house. To date it's unknown was to whether it can hold more 8,000 fans.

Niiiice comeback. And me without a pencil to write it down with.

Way to try to deflect attention from the issue! Typical "apoplectic Conservative."

When you come on here as the all-knowing, all-seeing "insider" you'd better have your facts straight or be prepared to get called out on it.

Carpe, did you really NOT KNOW that the MSU football deal was with all there MAC schools?

I was told here a while back that MSU was afraid to play mid-majors on the road. Of course, MSU is also afraid to play WMU altogether. Wise decision on their part considering how tough Western looks so far.

MSU played CMU in their tourney a couple years ago. They played UT and lost to them (badly) about 5 years ago. They've played Oakland, which tells me they aren't afraid to play a good in state team. So I'm thinking someone isn't telling the truth here as to why we don't play them.

Yes sir, okay sir

People would take you a lot more seriously if you were human enough to admit when you're wrong.

Instead of deflecting, obfuscating, prevaricating, and otherwise doing your best Newt Gingrich imitations.

I think we get "spun up" by our Athletic Department quite often with those stories.

Now, now, don't get salty. I was simply reminding a few here of just how wrong they were a couple months ago.

For those wondering, the basketball game at EMU was agreed upon because they're the last of the three MAC teams to host MSU in football.

So, to recap, EMU got a home hoops game against an elite program, CMU got to host MSU first in football, and WMU, well...you know.

Yeah, I get it.

EMU gets the honor of being crushed twice, in two sports, in front of virtually no one.

CMU gets the early beat down, as 3-9 Akron West gets crushed at home by MSU.

And Western gets the only real chance at beating them in 2015.
