Chattanooga (11/1710) Game Thread - KennesawBasketball - 11-16-2010 09:16 AM

Time to validate our Georgia Tech win. This is a huge game for our young team. Just think about it. We started a junior, 3 sophomores, and 1 freshman last night. Defensively it was a good effort against GT, and we need to see more of that from our team.

Let's keep this momentum going Owls!

UTC always has talent, but also seems to lack cohesion at times. A cursory look at their roster reveals a number of transfers from major programs, which may be a factor in their lack of teamwork. They also have two local (East Tennessee) players on their squad: Omar Wattad and Josh Odem. Both are fine players.

Best of luck...keep helping the league's RPI!

I'm going to be pulling for Kennesaw to skip the Southern Conference and go straight to the Big East so this doesn't become a regular thing for me.

Articles like that aren't all that realistic for the near term. Perhaps in 10-15 years we might be ready to entertain those types of talks, but talking about the Big East when we have yet to finish in the top 5 in the ASun is like bringing up Kennesaw Football in the mid 1990's. Yeah - it might eventually happen, but more than likely it is a long ways away (if ever) from happening.

I am happy where we are, and I am happy that we have a good basketball coach and are going to be adding football. We won't even have football until 2014...it will take us several years to become competitive at the FCS division...We might be jumping conferences at some point because of football, but I don't think this school would be ready for anything like the Big East for 20 years.

It bugs me a bit that people are always trying to look for the next big thing. Lets just celebrate what we have, and be optimistic for the future without trying to sell pie in the sky dreams.

I happen to like that they are thinking big. Like you, I don't believe these dreams will come to fruition any time soon but I do believe we will be in another conference by 2014.

<<You know we love you, even if you have split loyalties tonight.>>

Haha, thank you, thank you. I certainly have split loyalties, but also because I have a great professional and personal respect for Chattanooga's head coach, John Shulman. There are some select fans at Chattanooga that don't like him because he wasn't a basketball player, and despite the fact that he has brought 2 conference championships (the previous two coaches brought a combined 0 championships) there's a portion calling for his head because Chattanooga isn't Kentucky, etc... when my father passed away last year, the UTC's football, basketball, softball, women's basketball and athletic director all came to the visitation... Coach Shulman gave me his cell and told me to call if I ever just needed to talk because he lost his dad when he was young too... and that certainly says a lot about the man.

So I'll be there, sitting on my hands... hoping both teams are playing in March.

I think Conference USA may be a good jump for the near future.

I don't think the Sun Belt would be a good move. Yes, it's FBS... but it's the absolutely bottom rung of FBS...

Conference USA at least has national respect.

I have an UTC grad that is going to the game just because we beat Tech and wants to see us play tonight.

Still enjoying all the press

Not a great half. UTC is nothing to write home about. We should be up by at least 10.

Were playing a bit sloppy. I think we have a bit of a tech hangover

RE: Chattanooga (11/1710) Game Thread - KennesawBasketball - 11-17-2010 08:58 PM

We are flat.......intensity is not there. Still plenty of time, but our leaders on the floor need to demand some defensive intensity. I don't know if UTC has missed a second half field goal. We are giving them wide open looks and now they are on a roll...

RE: Chattanooga (11/1710) Game Thread - KennesawBasketball - 11-17-2010 09:32 PM

We gave them the game.....should have won. Players had zero intensity. Ingle tried to shorten the game up in the 2nd half because we were dragging all around, but we couldn't hang on. Players must have spent too much time reading the press clippings, because we came out super flat. Really a bummer....

RE: Chattanooga (11/1710) Game Thread - Corn_3024 - 11-17-2010 09:50 PM

Its more of the emotional roller coaster that comes with beating GT that lead to us being flat imo.. not being full of ourselves. Lot of pressure was on our team to perform Monday.

Its exactly like Mike said earlier.. this game was let down central.

RE: Chattanooga (11/1710) Game Thread - KSUowl0003 - 11-17-2010 09:54 PM

They were drained

Chatt did not look to be the better team just the more rested team

Did you see Cummings three point attempt got about a foot off the ground to shoot in late in the 2nd half

Yea it was so bad KSU that I literally thought the UTC defender had gotten a piece of it.

I didn't get to see the game - how was the turnout? Has anyone jumped on the bandwagon after the Tech win?
